The Fairfield Garden Club held its
regular monthly meeting in the
Home Economies Room Thursday
afternoon with Mrs M ('. Allen and
Mrs Bernard Reeves as hostesses.
The table was lovely with a lace
doth over pink and appointments in
pink and various colors of day lilies.
Mrs. Mildred Burkhart, newly
elected president, was in the chair
Steward Jr submitted a large
Hackberry tree in his yard in Fair-
field but the tree was just under
the existing champ.
If you think you have a tree larg-
er than these species already declar-
ed champions, please contact David
Lot* in Fairfield and give him the
type of tree along with the circum-
ference of the trunk at four and a
hall feet above the ground The tree
will be checked.
Texas still has a lot of varieties
of trees that have no champion list-
ed, so if you find a tree large foi

number of local specimens were on
display Mrs Allen described many
varieties which were not available
for inspection.
