Macelyn Compton in Knox City
was the setting for the marriage
of their daughter, Patricia Ann,
to Billy Lee Gilpin, son of Mr.
and Mrs. J T.. Gilpin, of Knox
City, Thursday, Jan. 29.
The Rev. Oscar Bruce of Has-
kell performed the double ring
ceremony.
Mrs. Tommy Abe Watson
provided organ music and
Rachael Bulter of Stephenvillle
was soloist. A reading was
given by Mrs. Palmer Brooks
Campsey.
The bride, given in marraige
by her father, wore a street
length white satin dress en-
crusted with irridescent sequins
and pearls. The fitted bodice
had a square neckline and brief
sleeves. Elbow length gloves
were of white satin, and her
jewelry was a strand of pearls
and matching earclips. A satin
headpiece studded with seed
pearls held her shoulder length
veil of illusion. She carried a
handkerchief of handmade
French lace.
The bride’s bouquet was gar-
denias surrounded by stepha-
notis atop a white Bible.
Mrs. David Damron of Lub-
bock was matron of honor. She
wore a dress of blue silk and
carried a nosegay of white
feathered carnations.
Frank Neil Hall of Van served
Mr. Gilpin as best man. Ushers
were Palmer Brooks Campsey
and Stanley Compton, brother
of the bride.
Mrs. Montie White presided
at the guest book during the
reception following the cere-
mony. Wanda Bartlett, Patsy
Denton and Mrs. LaRoy Stubbs
served. Music was by Mrs.
Dusty Bateman.
Following the reception Mr.
and Mrs. Gilpin left on a trip
to Fort Worth where they will
make their home. For travel the
bride chose a coral suit styled
with mink trim.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Gilpin are
graduates of Knox City High
School. She attended McMur-
ry at Abilene and Tarleton State
College, Stephenvllle. While at-
tending TSC she was a mem-
ber of the DST Club; was maj-
orette for the TSC band for two
years; senior editor of tbe
Grassburr Annual; member of
the choir and of the Aggettes
and belonged to the rodeo club.
Mr. Gilpin is a student at
Arlington State College.
The bridegroom’s parents
were hostess for the rehearsal
dinner Wednesday evening,
Jan. 28.
Mrs. Compton, the bride’s
mouier, is the former Miss
Oscar Nell Cranberry of Fair-
field.
Baptist W. M. U. president pre-
sided, and Mrs. Stanley Vodicka,
Jr., of the Methodist Church
opened the service with prayer
followed by a song, "Beneath
The Cross of Jesus.” Theme for
the program was. ‘‘Lord, I Be-
lieve.”
Other hymns sung were "Sav-
iour Like A Shepherd Lead Us;”
“Faith of Our Fathers,” and
“Close To Thee.”
Those taking part on the pro-
gram and their subjects were as
follows: Mrs. J. W. Jacobs, First
Park Methodist Church in Dal-
las, Saturday.
Dr. Alsie H. Carleton officiat-
ed. Robert E. Scrogging provid-
ed music.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a bone
silk pesante suit fashioned with
a semi-fitted jacket, bracelet
length sleeves and v-neckline
outlined with ranch mink. She
wore brown and bronze acces-
sories and carried cymbidium!
The Valentine motif was
used in decorations and empba
sized in a mantle arrangement
of flowers and cuplds.
