Nov. 1.—The health of the
community, as usual, is ex-
tremely good—no sickness, not
even a few “cotton patch” chills.
In the past three or four
weeks we have good seasons from McCormick’s place.,
and some are turning their land
preparatory for next year’s crop.

ing at Haskell for the past year

W. O. Campbell has moved
from his farm southeast of town
to Oakwood.
R. P. Riley, our Tax Collect-
or, was taking in the county’s
dues here, the 22nd. He looks
natural whenhere on the streets
as of old. p
J. C. Evans has purchased
the Wm. Earnest farm in Butler;
is turning all the stubble and
clearing out all the woods land.
This will -make a fine farm
and Mr. Evans will make a show
place of it in five years.
We have had occasion to ride
some over the county in the last
few days and it looks like there
is less grass in fields and in the
woods to dry up by frost to make
winter feed for stock, than we
have ever seen and a good many
have allowed their fields to be
eaten clean of the amount they
did have.
The crop, unless the top crop
opens, is about gathered and
sold. If the bolls remaining,
apd they seein fully matured,
open up all right, those who
have saved their fields will get
from i to 4 more after frost, and
and some few, as much as they
gathered at first, or gathered up
to now.
Those who are going to have
to buy hay and other feed stuffs
had best be laying in their sup-
ply. It’s not going to be cheap-
er than now with the chance of
doubling up by Christmas.
Stock in this country will do
well on the open range till
Christmas. If those having any
number to winter, will save
their fields till then, they would
have less feed bill to pay in
spring, unless we have an un-
usually hard winter, and the
goose bone man says we won’t?.
