Training School
Elizabeth B. Daugherty, Tax
Assessor and Collector for the
Fairfield Independent School
District, was in Dallas last Mon-
day through Wednesday atten-
ding a special training school
for tax assessors given by the
Texas Tax Association.
Classes were held daily in the
auditorium of the Dallas Pub-
lic Library from 8:30 A. M. un-
til 5:00 P. M. and covered in-
formation on the legal basis for
taxation, principles of admin-
istration, public relations, and
the assessment of real and of
personal property.
Mrs. Daugherty was out of
her office for three days. She
hopes this did not inconvenience
anyone for the training that
she had will enable her to do a
better job for the tax payers in
this district.
The general requirement of
all taxes is that they be equal
and uniform. Also according to
the constitution, all owners of
property whether real,, person-
al or other, must render such
to the Tax Assessor before Ap-
ril 30. If anyone owns property
that has not been rendered for
school tax this year, please see
Mrs. Daugherty as soon as pos-
sible and she will be glad to as-
sist you. Unrendered property,
whether real, personal or other
when located must go on the
tax roll for the unrendered years
at the applicable rate plus pen-
alty and interest.
Mrs. Daugherty promises that
with the cooperation of each of
you, we will have fair and e-
quitable taxes, properly main-
tained records, and schools eq-
uipped to take care of our
children’s needs.
