o Operation
.1 m
Mrs. Malinda Akers, of Basham, Va,, writes:
“I hid what doctors call ‘prolapse,’ and couldn't
stand straight. 1- had pain in my back and
shoujders, and was very irregular and profuse.
Doctors said an operation was needed, but I
couldn’t bear the thought of the knife. After tak-
ing three bottles of Wine of Cardui, I could walk
around. Can now do my housework and am in
splendid health.”
Cardui is a pure, vegetable, medicinal essence,
especially adapted to cure women’s diseases.' It
relieves excessive periodical pains, regulates
irregularities, and is a
safe, pleasant and re-
liable remedy for all
sick women. In suc-
cessful use for over 70
years. Try it.
At Every Drug Store in $1.00 Bottles.

-SOUSA AND THE CLASSICS
John Philip Sousa, after sail-
ing in Europe on the seas of pop-
ular approval, has now cast an-
chor in the less turbulent waters
of Shelter Island, on the Long
Island Sound, The monarch of
the march, who is very fond of
swimming, says that at pressnt
he is eDjoying quietly his kind o:'
"Sound waves.” Asked about
the name and plot of his new
opera (to be produced next sea
son), Sousa ducked, and did a very
pretty overhand stroke. Apropos
was it not Sousa, who once said
about all composers: “When a
musician has gone through all
the old masters and then comes
to write something himself, it be
comes a matter solely of memory
and conscience/’ There is some-
thing for ocher composers to
ponder over. Sousa evidently
las a poor memory, or a very ac
tive conscience, for there is noth-
ing in his bright breezy music
that reminds us» in the remotest
degree of certain musty classics
which we are afraid to mention
by name in this place.
A free social by the Broadway
league at the residence of Mr.

Walking Wax Figurt,
AU of ua have seen wax figures I
in fact there are many of them
ia the show windows of our own |
town, bnt do any of them eat,
fight, make love, or lamgh? The I
marvelous collection which!
Madam Jarlev will bring to our j
city, are fitted up with the most
delicate clock work, which on be-
ing wonnd, causes the figures to
perform in the most life like
manner, each according to his
own nature. The acme of per-
fection however, has been reach
ed in one figure, that of the re-
nowned Paderewski, who not I
only plays divinely upon the pia-
no, bnt actually walks across the|
stage. Ibis seems impossible,
and one might almost say, must I
be seen to be believed, but it is
nevertheless true, as you will all,-

McKanna 3 Day Liqdor Cure
J 1 f
I have discovered the greatest cure for the liqdor habit ever known
—the only cure that cures without weakening the system and mind—
the only cure that leaves a man in better physical condition and without
absolutely any bad after effects. No other cure in the world will do
whaUaine does. I use no harmful drugs or dangerous hypodermics.
My treatment requires no detention from business. In fifteen years I
have cured over 15,000 men in all stages of the liquor habit. Others
will not accept apparently hopeless cases. I accept them and cure
them. Why experiment when I can cure you? I court the fullest in-
vestigation of my treatment and refer you to thousands of meo cured.
Write me fully today or call.
