rhis week has run fast
for all of us; we know it has
to have happened. Here are
a few points you may wish
to remember as we all hurry
along and holidays creep
closer. Last week we talked
about cookery and there are
still lots of ideas waiting for
you to choose among if you
haven’t finished planning for
the days just ahead.
Reminder: Thanksgiving
holidays for the library
begin at closing, Wednesday
evening, November 17 with
re-opening on Monday,
November 22 at 9.00 a.m.,
our regular time.
Many are aware of the
library’s Pick-A-Book table
) ust inside our door. Our library
is fortunate to be a favorite
with many friends. Some of
them leave gift books from
time to time. We appreciate
both the gifts as well as the
kind thoughts that prompt
them. We use everything we
can. We do, however, receive
duplicate items and other
things we can not use well.
Without space or personnel
to stage an occasional book
sale, we keep a selection of
items we can not use handy
for you to choose among.
Items are not formally “sold”
but your donation in exchange
is expected. Your generous
contribution goes to purchase
new titles. The table moves
fairly quickly so do look in.
As fall term at school
continues, remember the kids
can enjoy titles from this
year’s Bluebonnet Books list.
You fourth thru sixth graders
want to be sure you have read
enough titles to get to vote for
the favorite in January. Others
new books for youngsters
are being added steadily
including new series titles

such as Rick Riordan’s The
Heroes of Olympus, the Lost
Hero, Book I.
For adults waiting for new
arrivals, there are a number by
this week and others coming
very promptly. Fans of Jeffrey
Deaver can look for his new
Edge, one of his customary
thrillers that received
a handful of favorable
nationally published reviews
straight off. Nora Roberts
offers a romance in Happily
Ever After.
Two additional mysteries
show up with Iris Johnsen’s
Chasing the Night and J. D.
Robb’s Indulgence in Death
where NYPSD’s Lt. Eve
Dallas pursues a dangerous
predator. These titles are in
our large print collection, a
group of books well used by
all our readers since we have
no space for duplicates among
titles we acquire.
Fans of Lee Child can find
his new Jack Reacher novel,
Worth Dying For keeping
company with John Grisham’s
The Confession, a tale with a
most unusual theme. Child’s
last offering, 61 Hours, has
moved well as have earlier
works. And for something
different, here is Alexander
McCall Smith’s new The
Charming Quirks of Others
a lighter hearted offering to
balance some of the thriller
reads noted.
Goodies and diversity are
both waiting. Y’all come on.
Do it now.

Comanche County Consolidated Hospital
District Town Hall Meeting Minutes
By Kathy Johnston
The Comanche County
Consolidated Hospital District
Board of Directors met on
Tuesday, November 10, 2010
in the Cafeteria of Comanche
County Medical Center for
a Public Town Hall Meeting
related to the Private UPL
Program being considered.
Board Members present
were Gale Easley, Joe Locke,
Charles Mazurek, Janna
Morris, Billy Ray Evans and
Randy McCamey. Others
present were Kevin Storey,
CEO; Kerry Radcliffe,
CNO; Cleo Cagle, CFO;
Rick Sanchez, Materials
Manager: Peggy Jordan, HR
Director and Kathy Johnston,
Recording Secretary. There
were seventeen present from
the general public and local
newspapers.
President Easley called the
meeting to order at 5:05 p.m.
Kevin Storey, CEO, briefly
reviewed information from
previous Town Hall Meetings
regarding the reasons the
Private UPL Program is being
considered. These include a
decrease in reimbursement
from Medicare, a high
percentage of Medicare
patients, an increase in the
number of uninsured or under
insured and rumors currently
circulating. He noted that
CCMC has filed for Critical
Access Hospital Status. He
presented options available to
keep the hospital open noting
that most of these would
cause loss of local control. He
stated that by changing from
PPS (Prospective Payment
System) to CAH (Critical
Access Hospital) CCMC
would be reimbursed on a
cost basis that would have a
significant positive financial
impact. The Private UPL
Program would also have
an even more significant
financial impact.
Following Storey’s
presentation, President Easley
opened the floor for questions.
At 6:44 p.m., there being
no more questions from
the floor, President Easley
announced closed session.
Open Session was reconvened
at 7:44 p.m. Joe Locke then
made a motion to authorize
Board President to act on
the Lease Agreement and
Asset Purchase Agreement
between the Comanche
County Consolidated
Hospital District, the lessor
and Comanche County
Medical Center, the lessee,
at appropriate times and
to execute and sign the
Participation/Affiliation/
Attestation and other
Agreements necessary to
participate in the Private
UPL Program, subject to
approval with the Hospital
District Counsel. Billy Ray
Evans seconded the motion. It
carried unanimously.
The meeting was declared
adjourned at 7:51 p.m.

Dear Editor,
I wish to thank all of the
students and teathers of
Comanche High School and
H R. Jefferies Junior High
for the great Veterans Day
program last Thursday.
This is the first year that
1 have attended, and I was
very impressed with the
event. The students were all
very respectful and showed
great honor to the veterans,
and several times, gave us
standing ovations. I even had
several individual students
tell me afterwards as I walked
to my vehicle, "Thank you,
Mr. Veteran, for your service
to our Country."
I especially want to thank
my escort, Amanda Sanchez.

is very beautiful and was
dressed immaculately, and
wore a red flower in her hair. 1
felt so lucky to have the most
beautiful girl in school as my
escort. Thank You, Amanda.
Thanks to all of the students
and teachers that participated
in the program. It was a very
touching service. I served in
Vietnam, and when we came
home, we were criticized and
cursed. 1 was so moved by the
respect and honor shown by
the students and teachers, that
tears ran down my face (and
I noticed several other tough
old veterans wiping their eyes
also).
All of Comanche can
be proud of the Patriotism
exhibited by their students on
Veterans Day.
Again, Thank You, to all
of the students and teachers
involved in the program, and
a special thanks to Ronnie
Clifton for all the work he

event.
Thank You!
