BLOTTER
Report: Minor found
drinking, gives false name
A 19-year-old man drinking
alcohol at a mobile home park
ended up in jail early Saturday af-
ter a Denton officer determined
he was lying about his identity,
according to a police report.
At 5:15 a.m., a caller reported
that someone was making too
much noise in the 9100 block of
Teasley Lane, police reported.
An officer arrived at the scene
scene, and the caller pointed to a
pickup parked in front of a trail-
er and reported that the man
didn’t live there but had been sit-
ting outside for 30 minutes
drinking what appeared to be
vodka, according to the report.
The officer reported that
when she approached the sus-
pect and asked to see identifica-
tion, the man refused to provide
anything but a name. When the
officer ran the name through the
system, nothing matching his
assumed identity returned.
The officer asked him again
for his name, and the suspect
told her that he would call his
mother, who would verify his
name.
The suspect then phoned his
mother using speaker phone,
and she verified that the suspect
had provided only his first and
middle names. When the officer
ran the suspect’s full name in the
system, she was able to pull his
information.
The officer also detected an
odor of alcohol on the suspect’s
breath, so she searched the pick-
up and discovered two bottles of
beer in the floorboard.
She placed the 19-year-old
under arrest on charges of mi-
nor in possession of alcohol and
failure to identify by giving false/
fictitious information, according
to the report.
Other reports
3500 block of Shelby
Lane — Police took an offense
report Saturday evening after a
caller reported that his wife tried
to run him over in their minivan,
then entered his workplace and
threatened to shoot him with a
pepper spray gun, according to
the report.
Officers arrived on scene,
contacted the caller and wit-
nesses and completed an offense
report, according to the report.
It was not clear why the wife was
angry.
600 block of South May-
hill Road — A traffic stop early
Friday morning could possibly
lead to an arrest warrant for lit-
tering and fleeing from a law en-
forcement official after the traf-
fic violator refused to stop, ac-
cording to a police report.
Police stopped a driver at
about 2:30 a.m. and issued her a
citation for speeding and failure
to change address.
According to the report, after
receivingthe citation, the woman
opened her car door and threw
the ticket out on the ground. The
citing officer witnessed it and
took off in pursuit after the driv-
er, who refused to pull over even
though the police vehicle was be-
hind her with lights flashing and
sirens blaring.
The officer’s supervisor told
him to terminate the pursuit, re-
ported the officer, who later filed
an affidavit for an arrest warrant
for littering from a vehicle and
fleeing a police officer.

El Paso
Border Patrol to add
more female agents
The U.S. Border Patrol is
seeking to increase the number
of female agents in its ranks to
help with the influx of women
who are in the country illegally.
The agency on Dec. 1 issued a
job posting aimed at women on-
ly. The application deadline is
Wednesday.
“This is the first time we’ve
had a job announcement for fe-
male agents only,” said Border
Patrol Agent Yesenia Leon, a
spokeswoman for the agency’s
El Paso sector.
Just 5 percent, or 1,039, ofthe
Border Patrol’s 20,824 agents
nationwide are female.
Leon told the El Paso Times
that women were just 16 percent
of applicants to an October post-
ing. The agency often needs
more female agents for pat-
downs and other processing for
women detained at the border

Drone launch, recovery

150-acre unmanned aircraft
launch and recovery complex. It
will include a 50,000-square-

San Leon
Sheriff: Shipwrecked
family was on the run
The day after they were res-
cued from a sailboat sinking in
Galveston Bay, Donald and Kar-
lien Winberg disappeared with
their seven children.
Authorities say that’s because
the Winbergs are on the run
from wire theft charges brought
by the FBI.
The Galveston County Dai-
ly News reports volunteer fire-
fighters in San Leon in late Oc-
tober pulled the couple and their
seven children out of a boat fill-
ing up with cold water.
The infant and her mother
were hospitalized that night and
released the next morning, but
haven’t been seen since. Their
boat sat in the water for weeks,
untouched. An FBI agent in
Denver then contacted the Gal-
veston County sheriff.
Authorities accuse the Win-
bergs of running a fake online
business shipping corn and hay.
