meeting of tho tiro department a
quorum was present and Assistant
Chief Bart Mooro called tho meeting
to order Chief Jlogan being absent
on account of sickness Tho usual
business was transacted and Iho de-
partment was notttled that tho 2000
feet of hose which had been ordered
from tho White Anchor Hose manu-
factory at Akron Ohio had been
shipped It may bo expected at any-
time A committee was appointed to can-
vass East Waco to see if they could
ralso enough money to pay for a Are
alarm box over there and
If it can not bo gotten
tho department will take down the
wlro which runs across the river It
takes a powerful battery to keep this
wire working by cutting It at First
street and running tho circuit only on
the west side of tho river will save a
heavy cxpeuso and a great deal of
trouble to the department
The chief and assistant chief wero
appointed a committee to wait
upon tho city council and ask that a

to a misunderstanding In regard to
tho meeting On motion Captain T
A Blair was elected chairman and

Ths object of tho meeting was to
take action ou the resignation of
ChlefS A Hogan pho secretary
read tbo resignation which stated
that owing to certain circumstances
connected with his office as
chief bo wonld have to resign
That ho could not work In harmony
with tho committee on fire department
from the city council In regard to
certain transactions which had been
mado for the tiro department and ho
could not and would not act at chief
any longer
The matter of Mr Hogans resigna-
tion was discussed and there was a
strong feeling In tavor of
his remaining In ofllco un
until tbo expiration of the present
t mo at least which will ho about to
months In discussing the question
every llrcmau pledged themselves
that II Mr Hogau bod been agrieved
they wonld all stand by him and on
motion a commute consisting of as-
sistant chief Bart Moore foremen J
