Miss Elda Lozano of Mer-
cedes and Ernesto Balderas
of Edinburg exchanged wed-
ding vows September 25 at
Our Lady of Mercy Chyrch.
The Rev. Jerome Bqrnett,
OMI, performed the double-
ring ceremony.
Parents of the couple are
Mr. and Mrs. Antonio Loza-
no of Mercedes and Mr. and
Mrs. Ascecion Balderas of
Edinburg.
Miss Diana Salinas of
Mercedes provided tradi-
tional wedding music.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a for-
mal white gown of peau de
soie featuring long puffed
sleeves trimmed with lace
appliques. The bodice had a
Peter Pan collar with the
same lace appliques. Her
chapel-length train fell from
her shoulders. A crown of
seed pearls held her veil of
illusion. She carried a cas-
cading bouquet of white
mums centered with a white
orchid.
Miss Gloria Garcia of
Mercedes was maid of hon-
or. She wore a white formal
gown. Her headpiece was a
large brim hat trimmed with
baby blue streamers. She
carried a bouquet of blue and
white mums.
Bridesmaids were Miss
Gloria Garcia of Mercedes
and Miss Yolanda Martinez
of Relampago. J unior
bridesmaid was Miss Aida
Lozano, sister of the bride.
Other attendants were
Mr. and Mrs. Armando
Sanchez of Edinburg, lazo;
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pu-
m are jo of Mercedes, rosa-

A reception followed at
the Kaycee Hall. Miss Patsy
Hinojosa registered the
guests.

At Dinner
The Alethean Study Club
began the new year with a
dinner meeting September
22 at the Rodeway Inn. Fol-
lowing the meal, the presi-
dent, Mrs. Woody Tullis,
welcomed the members. She
discussed the year books
and the theme of "Em-
phasis*.
A letter of resignation
was read from Mrs. W. R.
Dressier, who has moved
to McAllen. Mrs. H. L. Ger-
man was elected to serve
as treasurer to replace
Mrs. Dressier.

Lois Clark, Mrs. German
Mrs. Lloyd Heggen, Mrs.

Girls Staters
First meeting of Los Eba-
nos Study club was a cover-
ed dish luncheon at the home
of Mrs. Gilson Knapp on
Monday. Other hostesses
were Mrs. L. L. VanBerg,
Mrs. J. L. Long, Mrs. Wen-
dell Schwarz, Mrs. J. D.
Vollmer and Mrs. Dan Mor-
rison.
A program was presented
by Hilda Hernandez and Ju-
dy Solis, Bluebonnet Girls
State representatives.They
reported on the convention
they attended in J une.
During the business ses-
sion members voted to send
donations to the Harlingen
Chest Hospital and to the
Planned Parenthood of Hi-
dalgo County.
Mrs. VanBerg distributed
yearbooks. Theme for the
year is *Days of Our Lives’.
Visits Grandson,
Other Relatives
Mrs. L. B. Doshier ofEd-
couch returned recently
from visiting her grandson,
Thomas Elliott, in Dallas,
relatives in T ahlequah,
Okla., and heb 92-year-old
aunt in Tulsa, Okla. She also
visited near her old home in
Arkansas.

of their daughter, Myrthala,
to Daniel Rodriguez, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Genaro Ro-
driguez Sr. of Mercedes.
The bride-elect is a gra-
duate of Mercedes high
school and is a junior at
Pan American University.
Rodriguez graduated from
Mercedes high school, re-
ceived his BS degree at Pan
American University and is
employed with the Edinburg
school district.
