Dairymen To Meet Here
A.M. Meekma, Extension
Dairy Specialist, Texas A&M
University, will meet with
dairymen of Cameron, Starr
and Hidalgo counties at the
Magic Valley Electric Co-
operative Auditorium in
Mercedes, Friday, July 16,
from 1 to 3 p.m., according
to County Agent Dutch Kar-
cher.
George Carpenter, Edin-
burg, president of the Val-
ley Dairy Herd Improve-
ment Association, and Lloyd
Miller, chairman of the dai-
ry subcommittee have ar-
ranged for the Extension
Service to present a program
on forage feeding dairy cat-
tle. This topic was voted
most important by Valley
dairymen in a survey con-
ducted earlier this year.
Meekma will discuss nu-
trient requirements of the
dairy cow; forages, the
cheapest source of nutrients,
the range in nutrient value
of forages and how to uti-
lize forage testing for more
profit.
