ordered yesterday by Heldelbach Ickelhamer
Co ni shipped to day for Germany by the
Bremen steamer The correct explanation of
the transaction seems to be German bankers
bare been drawing gold from other European
centers and secured about all they conld obtain
here An effort to draw specie from London
was met by a sharp advance in the London In
erest rate consequently the special order was
sent to New York No Information is obtaina-

is to be used

New York June 14 There was little tha
was encouraging about to days early market
London cable prices for all Americans were
lower and London selling orders in our market
helped to make the weak quotations of the first
hour of business and the shipment of 1003000
in gold to the continent was mado the most of
by bears Tbe actual effect on our money sup-
ply is of course the same as if the gold had
been lent o tbe balance of the exchanges that
is wo lose S10C000 but there
is no reason for thinking that this will be fol-
lowed by further shipments for gold mnst be
shipped at a loss while exchange rates rule as
they do at present The gold was wanted by
Berlin bankers who had reasons for not wish-
ing to take more gold from London In the
present easy state of our money market no bad
results need bo feared Declines in prices in
the first hour were general Even specialties
dropped Chicago and East Illinois slocks
were pounded hard Sugarsuifered considerably
Trading was so dull as to bo almost farcical In
the last half hour there was a marked improve-
ment in prices due to the belief that the bank
statement would be favorable owing to the
fact that the banks have gained considerably on
the sub treasury during the past week Receipts

been shown from day to day by the fall
