Shower in Sneed Home
Saturday Compliments
Miss Ab®V Gail Dodge
Mis« Abby Gail Dodge, bride-
elect of Herbert Hall, was com-
plimented with a lovely shower
Saturday, March 28, in the home
of Mrs. K. W Sneed.
Receiving guests at the door
was Mrs. R. Q. Sims. Forming
the receiving line were Mrs W. H.
Dodge, the bride-elect, Mrs. Ben-
ny Hall and Mrs. Gene Wofford.
Miss Rowena Elliott presided
over the guest book, and Mrs.
Franklin Wilson was in charge of
the display of lovely gifts.
Showing guests into the din-
ing room were Mrs. Frank Bounds
and Mrs. John Mackey. During
the first hour, Miss Grace Hack-
ney and Mrs. Frederick Ward
served the cake and tea, while
Mrs. Tom Poindexter, Jr., and
Mn>4^fel Keemple served the
second Bur. Also assisting in the
dining room were Mrs. Charlies
Bounds. Mrs. H. P. Black. Mrs.
Alice Wright and Mrs. H. C.
Boyd. Other hostesses were: Mrs.
Dillon Bounds, Mrs. John Miller,
Mrs. T. B. Poindexter Sr., Mrs.
J. D. More, Mrs. O. H Howard,
Mrs. Roy Simmons, and Mrs.
George D. Stubbs
The lovely rooms of the Sneed
home were beautifully decorated
tpr the occasion, the flowers car-
rying out the color scheme of
pinks and lavender. Pots of hy-
drangeas and bowls of violets and
pansies were placed throughout
the house, while in the dining
room crystal epergnes with ar-
rangements of wistaria and iris
graced the buffet and serving
table.
The flower arrangement for
the table was exquisitely done,
and featured Dresden cupids,
pink carnations, lilacs, lavender
ribbon and pink tulle delicately
blended. The lovely picture was
completed by tall pink candles
in crystal candelabra At one end
of the table was placed the sil-

Meet with Y. W. A.

The Young Women’s Auxiliary
of the Baptist church met at the
church Monday, March 23, for a
joint meeting with the intermedi-
ate Girls Auxiliary. The meet-
ing was a community missions
project of the older group, and
information concerning alcohol-
ism was discussed.
Interesting talks were given by
Patsy Cates, Dorothy Bilton, Mel-
by Dean Teer, Rowena Elliott,
and Tommy Jane Bounds.
Cokes and cookies were served
at the close of the meeting.
Mrs. R. Q. Sims is sponsor of
the group, and will review a
study book at the next meeting.

Are Dallas Guests
At Golden Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. Billy Applewhite,
Mrs. Juanita Murray, and Miss
Jessmyr Hood were in Dallas
Sunday attending the golden
wedding anniversary of Mr. and
Mrs. J. C. Erwin, parents of Mrs.
Applewhite.
Open house was held from two
until five Sunday afternoon. The
house was beautifully decorated
with flowers, many of which
were gifts from the family. The
beautifully arrayed centerpiece
for the tea table featured yellow
Talisman roses and candy tuft
placed on a white satin cloth.
Mr apd Mrs. Erwin were mar-
ried fifty years in" the home of
an aunt, Mrs. P. K. McKenzie, of
Oletha. Mrs. McKenzie, now of
Dallas, is 90 years old and at-
tended the anniversary.
Mr and Mrs. Erwin have five
children and five grandchildren,
all of whom were present for the
celebration. The children are:
Mrs. Applewhite, Mrs. H E.
Moore, of Glendale, Calif.. Mar-
vin A. Erwin, Glendale, Calif.,
W S. Erwin, Laguna Beach,
Cali?., and Floyd C. Erwin of
Dallas.

Home for Social
Mrs. J. F. Crowson was hos-
tess to Circle No. 3 at its regu-
lar monthly social meeting,
March 2
Mrs. A. J. McKinney was lead-
er of the program on “A Vision
from Bingaburn” a preliminary
program to the study on Africa.
Assisting in presenting the
program were these members,
Mrs. B. F. Bounds, Mrs. E. A.
Peurifoy and Mrs. S. E. Tucker.
In the business session which
followed the program, the circle
voted to buy an altar cloth and
a communion service top for the
church.
The hostess, assisted by Mrs.
E. M. Joda, served refreshments
to fifteen members, Mrs. O. H.
Howard, W. S. C. S. president,
and Mrs. R. W. Gould, a visitor
from Houston.

Mmes. Peurifoy And
McAfee Attend
Meeting in Olney
Mrs. P. L. Peurifoy and Mrs.
Joe McAfee of Tehuacana were
delegates to the Central Texas
Conference of the Women’s So-
ciety of Christian Service of the
Methodist church, which met at
Olney, Texas, March 24-26.
They drove to Jacksboro Mon-
day and visited Mrs. Peurifoy's
niece and family on the Moore
Ranch. They went on to the con-
ference on the 24th.
The conference had a fine at-
tendance, and the people of Ol-
ney did everything possible for
the pleasure and comfort of the
delegates.
Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Camp-
bell of Richland, acompanied Mrs.
Peurifoy and Mrs. McAfee as far
as their home in Richland on their
return trip home.
