ing of the Chamber, with
prime emphasis on lighting,
acoustics and air condition-
ing.
The ceiling of the Senate
Chamber will be repaired at
the same time and the Sena-
tors will hold their sessions
in a room nearer the center
of the jTapitol which they
had occupied up until 1854.
It was that year that the Sen-
ate wing was completed and
the Supreme Court took over
this smaller room and met
there until 1935 when the
I new Supreme Court building
i was finished.
Another building w h i c !i
will soon be renovated is the
1 White House. The President
has been living in the Blair
House across Pennsylvania
Avenue for over six months
as the White House was
found to be near a state of
collapse. Members of the
Senate and House Appropria
tions Committees argued for
! several weeks over whether
1 the White House should be
torn down and rebuilt or if
.t should be repaired. A com-
mittee consisting of a retired
Army engineer and two Sen-
ators and two Representa-
tives will make the decision
on this motter soon.
