Home for the holidays in the

Mr. and Mrs John Marburter
and Thomas motored to Fredicks-
burg Saturday night and enjoyed
seeing the Legendary Tales and
the Easter Fires of Fredericks:
burg. They report a very inter-
esting pageant in which about 400
persons participated.

Miss Mamie Fisher and Mrs. E.
R. Fisher of Burton and Mr. and

GERHARD P. SCHULZE
Gerhard P. Schulze, 71, of Gid-
dings, passed away Sunday morn-
ing in the Giddings hospital. Fun-
eral services were held. Tuesday
afternoon at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church in Serbin. with
Rev. A. Arndt of ft dating. Burial
was in the church cemetery at
Serbin.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eli-
zabeth Mitschke Schulze of Gid-
dings, four sons, Harry and Rudy
of Giddings, Marvin of Brenham,
andMilton of Elgin; three daugh-
ters, Miss Louise Schulze of Hous-
ton, Mrs. Erna Mae Wolff of Gid-
dings and Mrs. Elizabeth Hills of
Madrid, Spain; two brothers, Emil
of Fedor and Ernest of Winches-
ter; one sister, Mrs. Emma Leh-
mann of Serbin; eight grand-
children; and two great-grandchil-
dren.
ROSS A. COLE
Ross A. Cole, 79, died in the
Fayette Memorial Hospital on Ap-
ril 11. Last rites were held Mon-
day at 9 a.m. from the Koenig
Funeral Chapel with Rev. John
F. Jensen and Rev. Paul Grout
J r. officiating. Burial was in the
Kingston cemetery near Geen-
ville.
Mr. Cole was a retired postal
employee and had lived in La
Grange for 15 yea_s.
Born on Sept. 11, 1883 in Cel- .
este, the deceased was a son of
Mr. and Mrs. Billie Cole. He
married Tempebel Oliver on Jan.
1, 1959 in Dallas.
Surviving are his widow; a dau-
ghter, Mrs. Cora Nell Callahan of
Dallas; three sons, J. Steven of
Skokie, Illinois, Ovid of TYLE1
AND Bill of Dallas; 3grandchildrer
and 2 great-grandchildren.

UNDERGOES SUFGERY
Nolan Ryman underwent sur-
gery in Fayette Memorial hospital
Tuesday morning and at present
is doing as well as might be ex-
pected.
Mark Allan Miller , son of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Miller of Smith-
ville underwent surgery for aheart
condition Thursday morning in the
Crippled Children’s Hospital in
Houston and at present is doing as
might be expected under the cir-
cumstances. The operation is re-
ported to be a success.

Rev. and Mrs. Max Keeble and

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Williams

granddaughter Terri Lynn Harbers
motored to Temple recently to visit
with the William Talaseks. They
also toured a number of gardens
to see the iris in bloom.
Mrs. Joe Krenek of La Grange
whn had been visiting in the Tala-
sek home returned with them.
On Thursday, Mrs. Louise Went
of Kirtley was an afternoon visitor
and dinner guest in the John A.
Tanecka home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Tramp and
Cindy of Austin spent Good Friday
with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wessels
and family.
Mr. and Mrs. A1 Handrich who
reside in New Braunfels are spend-
ing their vacation at their home
place in West Point, and visiting
with friends in the vicinity.
Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Plummer
who are temporarily residing in
Giddings were here to fish in the
Colorado River. They also visit-
ed with the John A. Taneckas at
the weekend.

Koopmann and Mr. and Mrs. Clin-
ton Huebel of Columbus surprised
Mrs. Ike Petras in La Grange on

Simpson of Smithville motored to
Houston Sunday where they visited
with Mrs. Anna Giese who is in
Hermann Hospital and ^recover-
ing from her recent injury so well
that she is to begin using a
wheelchair at an early date. They
also spent sometime in the home
of Mrs. Young’ s daughter, Mrs.
Fannie Schwimmer in Houston.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wessels
and Phif paid an Easter visit to
the Alvin Wessel’s in Smithville.
Mr. anu Mrs. Jan Thurman spent
Easter with her parents Mr. and
Mrs. Emil Tramp. Mr. Thurman,
who is in the Armed Services, Is
dome on leave at this time.
Mrs. John Wessels. whose sight
has been impaired for some time,
was scheduled to enter a hospital

to have an eye operation.
REPTILES OUT
Reptiles are coming out of hi-
bernation, and one finds them in
closer proximity than is desired.
A neighbor was startled when one
that had been at his back door,
slithered across the porch. Many
snakes are harmless, but there are
also many that are poisonous. To
be able to recognize the poison-
ous snakes one may obtain a
bulletin showing them clearly,
from the Texas Game and Fish
Commission, Austin.
