FHA NEWS
The Round Top-Carmine FHA
met on Jurte 24,1963 for their sum-
mer meeting. The meeting took
place in die typing room with Mrs.
Ruben Wunderlich.
The program consisted of a de-
scription of FHA by Nancy Rauch
and the responsibilities of the
piembers by Mrs. Wunderlich.
Lists for participation were
handed out and filled out by the me-
mbers as to what type of work they
would like to do.
It was decided tohave two month-
ly meetings for the coming school
term. One will be a business meet-
ing during school and another meet-
ing will be held at night for further
activities and purposes of the or-
ganizations. The day meetings will
be for one period while the night
meetings will be longer sessions.
One other summer meeting was
planned for July 85, starting at
1 until 4 p.m. after which we will
go swimming at Artesian Park.
Everyone going swimming is asked
to bring a sack lunch.
The dues for the coming year will
be $1.00 for each member. Fifteen
cents1 Will go the the National Chap-
ter and fifty cents to the State Ch-
apter.
Several mothers from each class
were nominated for Chapter Mo-
thers. One mother f rom each class
will be elected at a later date. They
will serve a two yegr term.
The elected officers are as follows:
Historian, Sandra Hoppe; Parli-
mentarian, Kay Neutzler; Song
leader, Lana Behnke and FHA Beau,
James Piets ch.
The following committees were
appointed; Constitution committee;
Program of .Work Committee;
Public Relations Commitre and
Finance Committee.
Punch was served in the home-
making room followed by songs
led by our new song leader.

Mrs. Herbert Weinert of Car-
mine had her birthday on Friday
June 28 at her home.
A delicious lunch of sandwiches,
cake, cookies, pie, potatoe chips,
pickles and coffee were served.
A number of relatives and fri-
ends attended Mrs. Weinert’s birth
day.

Approximately 30 people, rep-
resenting almost every section of
the county, elected four directors,
adopted a constitution and set of
by-laws, and heard a several com-
mittee reports at the annual meet-
ing of the Fayette Resources Dev-
elopment Council which was held
Thursday night at the county Ag
building.
C. W. Meyer of Freyburg, W.
O. Albrecht, La Grange, and Mrs.
Ben F. McCormick, Walhalla, were
reelected to the board. Eddie Zou-
zalik, Flatonia, was elected to fill
out the unexpired term of Mrs. Eu-
gene Haschke of Winchester, who
resigned.
These directors, along with the
holdovers who are Elmo Minzen-
meyer of Swiss Alp, J. E. Morgan
of Plum, Leon Kainer of Flatonia,
Bobby Friedrick of Ledbetter and
Walter II. Mueller of La Grange
will meet July 11 to elect officers.
Committee reports were from
the following chairmen: Cotton,
Marvin Moerbe; swine, Frank Sch-
aefer; poultry, Elmo Minzentney-
er; horticulture, Frank J. Willma-
nn; dairying , 'Ernest T. Radenz;
beef cattle, presented by County
agent Clinton R. Bippcrt for Mil-
ton Koenning; and field crops, pre-
sented by the couny agent for
Erwin Zocli.
Tourism and recreation, Walter
H. Mueller; industry, J. E. Mor^
Ran; youth activities, Warren O.
Albrecht; and family living, cl-
othing by Mrs.C. W. Fritsch, foods
and nutrition by Mrs. Donald L.
Dopslauf, and housing by Mrs. Ben
F. McCormick.
Adoption of the constitution and
the by-laws required approximate-
ly an hour and a half until it was
satisfactory to everyone.

Gaslight Day Winners
Are Told
United Gas Corp. employees won
national honors In the recent Gas-
light Day observance by selling 10,
370 gaslights, more than 10 per cent
of the total sold throughout the in-1
dustry.
Results of the National Gaslight
Day sales campaign were announc-
ed by American Gas Association
according to John Roper, Local Re-
presentative of United Gas.
Ninety-eight companies entered
the campaign with 56 companies
reporting sales of 91,045gaslights.
During 1962 (the first annual Nat-
ional Gaslight Day Campaign), 58
companies reported sales of 64,135
gaslights.
The first place throphy to United
Gas Corp. and awards to 15 region-
al winners will be presented at the
joint afternoon sales .session-Re-
sidential and Industrial & Com-
mercial Gas sections--of the Am-
erican Gas Assn.’s annual conven-
tion in Los Angeles on Monday,
Oct. 14.
United Gas employees through-
out the Gulf South area participat-
ed in the campaign. In the com-
pany’s system-wide competition,
its Southwest Louisiana division
was first place winner with 22.5
gaslight sales per 1,000 meters;
Monroe'was second with 21.7; and
Beaumont third, with 19.2 gaslight
sales per 1,000 meters. United’s
overall average was 18.4 sales per
1,000 meters.
Airman Fuller In on
Operation Short Spurt
Airman Second Class Jesse Fu%
ller Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse
Fuller Sr. of Waynesboro, Ga.,
has arrived here for a period of
temporary duty under the Air For-
ce’s new overseas rotational ass-
ignment program. Operation Sh-
ort Spurt.
Airman Fuller, a warehousing
specialist, will return to his per-
manent assignment at Lackland
AFB, Texas, following his Short
Spurt tour. Overseas assignments
under the program are of only
a few months duration.
The airman’s wife is the former
Bessie L. Collins of Rt. 2, La
Grange, Texas. He is a graduate
of Waynesboro H. & I. High Sch-
ool.

Pharmacy Entered
The Bartos Pharmacy at Schul-
enburg was entered by burglars
sometime last Wednesday night
or early Thursday morning, with
the loot consisting of cosmetic
items and $5 in cash.
Taken were some shaving lotion,
ladies’ cologne and a quantity of
lipstick, officers said. Entrance
was gained by prying a rear
door.
The lock on a door of another
Schulenburg business place was
tampered with the same night, but
there was no entrance.
