They were charged with murder
their victim being Mrs James
Simmons a rospectablo farmers
wife living in Oklahoma The
crime was a most revolting one and
the criminals wore punished in u
most revolting manner Mrs
Simmons was outraged und mnr
dored Tho body wrts horribly
mutilated Tho crimo resolved it-
self into an atrocity
The murder and mutilation of
Mrs Simmons so enraged tho
neighbors that nearly tho cntiio
population turned out to hunt
down and punish the perpetrators
Tlioy trailed them to the home of
McGeisey near Maud a small
town in the Seminolo Nation
where McGeisey and Simpson weio
arrested After securing their pris-
oners the mob tot firo to McGeiseys
house and bam and did not leave
until they saw all of his earthly
possessions reduced to ashes The
prisoners were then carried back
tcro s the line into Oklahoma icr
ritory and near tho scene of their
unspeakable ciinm they were exe-
cuted by Judge Lynehs order in
tho most horriblo manner that
human minds and hands could
devise

Tl e Indians met their doom
with the usual stoicism of their

Bought All His Stock
II B Woodlcy of this city who
is one of the most piosperous stock
men of Uvalde county returned
Tuesday from a trip to Sabinal
where ho concluded a deal with his
neighbor Mr liascom Lyell who
owns one of the prettiest ranches
in Texas fronting on tho Sabine
river Mr Woodley bought all of-
t ie stock of every kind and char
aster on Mr Lyells ranch and
leased the pasture for three years
Tho stock included in tho deal is
as follows
Fivo hundred fed cows 120
mules 05 maies and 2 jacks In
all 087 head and tho price paid
was in Iho neighborhood of 17 a-

Hanna Probably Defeated
It will bo rememberedthat some-
time before the election ia Ohio a
contemporary declared with evi-
dent pleasure that Mark Hannas
election was a certainty We re-
buked the prophecy as being in-
spired by tho desire rathor than
the thought of his election and
boldly denied that the peoplo of
Ohio would permit the senate again
to be degraded by the presenco of
such a thing as Hanna
While wo have nover laid dlaims
to tho gift of prophecy it now
seems tlmt wo were correct in that
instance for latest reports from
Ohio are that AntiIIanna icpubli
cans assisted by dcmociats have
elected a speaker who is bitterly
hostile to Senator Hanna art that
his defeat is certain
Theio is talk of Calvin Brice as-
a compromise gold standard candi-
date While he Mould bo objec-
tionable because of his glaring po
litical inconsistencies be is iar
preferable to Hanna
If the Ohio legislature will only
defeat tlio arch corruptionist the
people of tho country will be too
giateful to criticise them in the
choice of his successor Cuero
Star
At last it has been decided thut
Mr Martin of Wharton must
hang and he will now please pro
pare his passports to tho heavenly
kingdom Tho cqurl of apjieala
was uuablo to find nflaw in his
trial and now after two years of
waiting ondeating at tiio expense
of his county ho must perform the
air dance This is really a shame
and his lawyers no doubt feel much
aggrieved tlmt their client must

Sam Walker shot and killed Silver

bavo been hung to a limb but for
his crafty ways The rope was
already noosed for him when ho
asked leave to mako a few remarks
