Mrs. Jimmy E. Beasley
Maurie Kay Battle and Jimmy E.
Beasley, both of Llano, were united
in marriage at the First Baptist
Church on Jan. 3, 1987. Brother
Jerald Moore officiated at the formal
ceremony, for which Mrs. Lillian
Fowler was organist, and Miss
Shelley Emmell performed "Annie’s
Song,” a piano solo. k
The former Miss Battle is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob C.
Battle of Llano. Mr. Beasley's
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Roy Y.
Beaslev. Jr., also of Llano.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a white Victorian-
style lace-over-taffeta gown,
trimmed with pearls and iridiscent
sequins, featuring a ruffled capelet
and a full skirt with a deep bottom
flounce that ended in a chapel-
length train. The neck and sleeves of
veil-of-illusion ended at the wrists
with wide lace ruffles. Her head-
piece, was finished with a long white
veil. For her V something old,” the
new Mrs. Beasley wore a pearl
pendant necklace that had belonged
to her great grandmother. She
carried a cascade of white roses,
baby's breath, English ivy and
wine-colored rose buds.
Miss Melissa Battle served as her
sister’s maid of honor. She and the
other bridal attendant. Miss Allison
Altimore, wore wine-colored taffeta
gowns with tea-length full skirts,
featuring elbow-length puffed
sleeves. They wore white fur head-
pieces and carried white fur mufTs.
The flower girl. Miss Aimee Battle,
wore an identical ensemble.

At their regular meeting on
January 12. members of the Llano
Woman s Culture Club enjoyed not
only an afternoon of art apprecia-
tion, but a spiritual blessing, as Mrs.
Totsy Long, noted artist, gave the
program on "The Symbolism of the
23rd Psalm." This was depicted in a
painting which Mrs. Long completed
over a period of five years.
Mrs. T. Long said she had to ask
herself the question, before be-
ginning this project—"Are you cap-
able?" "Yes" came the answer, "I
am one of the sheep.” “Are you
qualified?" "No, but God will hold
my hand."
Each line of the 23rd Psalm is
symbolized in the lovely and tran-
quil oil painting—from the quiet
stream, the peaceful sheep, and the
ruddy shepherd, to the tall grace-
ful trees—and the little church in the
distance as the eternaf rest from life
and its toils—"and I will dwell in the
house of the Lord for ever.”
Hostesses for the afternoon were
Mrs. Bryan Edwards, Mrs. Paul
Brown. Mrs. A. Lee Whitt, and Mrs.
Heston McBride. Refreshments
were served with Mrs. A. Lee Whitt
and Mrs. Heston McBride presiding
at the tea table.
Mrs. Hudson Long, president,
conducted a brief business meeting
to conclude the regular program.
