Pryor Light Plant
About To Change lands
Mr. P. M Cox, proprietor of the La
_Pryor Ice , Light 4 Water Company.
vent to Dll ley Tuesday, where he met
[representatives of the Central Power
4 Light Company, to whom he has for
some time been negotiating for the
sale of the plant owned by him here.
Mr. Cox reports satisfactory terms of
sale were reached, and that agree-
ments of option of purchase and sale
were signed by representatives of the
company and by himself, which was
as far as the matter might be carried
at the time, it now having to receive
confirmation at the hands of other
officials of the big company. Almost
nil of the towns In Southwest Texas
are now being served by the concern,
and they are giving entire satisfac-
tion, we learn, in all instances. High
lines are used for transmitting the
current between towns, and continu-
ous service is maintain; d, even along
the lines in the country, for all pur
poses for which electricity has come
to be used in modern times.
Mr. Cox has rend red a most im-
portant service in our town, but he
feels that the time has now arrived
when if he can turn the plant loose
without too great a sacrifice to the
big concern which is contributing so
much to the development of this sec-
tion, it will be to the b.st interest of Mness, sportsmanship and patriotism

NO WET PRESIDENTIAL CAN-
DIDATE CAN WIN THE HOITII
Many months ago it was reported
that propaganda had been organized
for flooding the country with stuff
in favor of Governor Smith as the
Democratic presidential candidate
and that ample financial backing
had been secured for that purpose
with the object of having many of
the most noted writers of the coun-
try work out a plan of publicity to
“sell" Smith to the country.
We do not know how much accu-
racy is in that statement but it is
easily s**en that in some way and
somehow this country is l>eing flood-
ed with Smith propaganda and news-
paper ml n and (publicity workers

If the Democrats want to go
down to complete destruction, tliey

as their presidential candidate. We
do not believe that any wet man.
and Smith is notoriously wet, it mat-
ters not how great may l*e liis abil-

United Stabs. We Isdieve that:
there are enough honest prohibition-
ists to vote against any notoriously
wet candidate even if in doing so
they know til- y are helping to de-
feat their own j>arty.
We cannot believe that the honest-'
hearted prohibitionists of this coun-!

loss of {Kilitieui affiliations would j
vot for a notoriously wet candidate!
like Governor Smith. There is a
strange situation just hciV. Smith:

‘‘But. the discovery of the water-

iformaly but are vulcanized in ten to
fifteen jmt cent, less time than the old
method required,” said the local d al
er.
“In curing of tins it is necessary
to evenly heat and stretch the tire* so
that every cord will be perfectly taut.
To do this a thin flexible tube filled
with very hot water under pressure is
placed within the tire and it in turn
is placed in a metal mold.
“Heat is th'n applied to the mold
and with the water-bug furnishing
both heat and j ressttre from the in-
side the tire receives a uniform cure*.
“Formerly by the air bag process
the bag inserted in the tire was filled
with e Id air instead of hot water.
I’nder this method the tire only re-
ceived heat from the outside metal
