Appeals Court Reverses Case
The case of Andy Loke, local
resident charged with illegal pos-
session of liquor, has been re-
versed by the Court of Criminal
Appeals in Austin and remanded
to Hockley County Court for re-
trial. The Austin court reversed
the case because of insufficient
evidence.
The court ruled that insufficient
evidence had been presented to
prove that the defendant owned
the property on which the J>eer and
whiskey was found.
A local constable and sheriff's
deputies raided the alleged resi-
dopcc of Loke in April of last
year which resulted in the arrest
of the defendant and the confis-
cation of several bottles of beer
and liquor.
The defendant posted bond and
was released from jail shortly af-
ter his arrest. His case will be
rc-tried during the next term of
county court.
