who is attending her father in a
critical illness there.
Jerry Don Gage is home from
a visit in Borger.

a baby daughter born two weeks
ago. They also have a son and
reside on the Pendergrass farm,

Mines. R. E. Bums and Julia
Thompson of Littlefield visited
Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Brown Tues-
day evening. Mrs. Brown is their
daughter and granddaughter, re-
latively.
Mrs. L. B. Saunders and chil-
dren of Morton spent Thursday
"with Mr. and Mrs. Horace Bevel,
southeast of town. The ladies are
sisters.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lang and
sons of Brownfield spent Thurs-
day night with Mr. and Mrs. Don
Reding. Other guests in the Red-
ing home Sunday were Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Peters and children of
Brownfield.
Thurman Dobson spent the
weekend in Lovington, N. M., and
was accompanied home by his
wife and children who had been
there on a visit since Wednesday.
Mrs. S. J. Billings of Sudan vis-
ited her son, C. H. Billings and
family from Thursday to Satur-
day. Her grandson, Billy Chester,
son of the E.' W. Chesters of Su-
dan, underwent an appendectomy
at the Payne-Shotwell Founda-
tion in Littlefield Wednesday.
Misses Betty Mixon and DcLois
Grant spent the weekend in Lev-
elland with Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Eller.
Mr. and Mrs. Oaks and grand-
daughter of Flint, Mich., are vis-
iting their son, Floyd Oaks, and
family.
Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Shedd, Peg-
gy and Patsy Shedd, Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Gage and daughter, accom-
panied by Mrs. C. D. Shedd and
baby of Littlefield, left Friday for
Emery, Dallas and other East
Texas cities. Mrs. E. D. Mulkey,
who bad been here for several
weeks, returned to her home in
Emery.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred McGregor
and sons af Lubbock spent the
weekend with their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. C. B. Keeney.
Miss Gayle Preddy of Aberna-
thy is visiting Misses Mona Faye
Armstrong and Janice Howard.
Rev. and Mrs. C. E. Dick of
Lubbock spent the weekend with
their son, E. B. Dick, and family.
Dick occupied the pulpit at the
Wliitharrai Baptist church Sunday
in the absence of the pastor, Rev.
Joe Denton, who is conducting a

named Mrs. J. C. Hodges honoree
with a pink and blue shower at the
Wade home on the Anton high-
way northeast of Whitharral Wed-
nesday afternoon.
A lace-covered table was cen-
tered with a yellow stork and
buggy. Other decorations were
yellow and green, these colors
predominating in the refreshments
of punch, sandwiches, cake and
ice cream.
A number of games were enjoy-,
cd before the “laundry” was pre-
sented by the colored washwoman
to the honoree.

WHITHARRAL, (Spl.) —The
Women’s Society of Christian
Service of the Whitharral Meth-
odist church held their regular
monthly social Monday afternoon
in the home of Mrs. Will Reding
west of town.
The devotional by Mrs. Reding
was followed by games and con-
tests directed by Mrs. Hub Spra-
berry.
Guests included Mrs. F. R. Sto-
vall and Misses Joan Kirkpatrick
and Sue Harper.

Club Discusses Plans
For Booth at Fair
WHITHARRAL, (Spl.) —The
^Jtharral Home Demonstration
c\ i> held their regular monthly
meeting at the home of Mrs. M l.
Throckmorton, Friday afternoon
with the president, Mrs. Foy How-
ard, in charge.
Plans were discussed for the
club booth at the Hockley County
Fair in September.
An “auction” sale netted the
club a neat sum of money.
The next meeting will be held
with Mrs. Guy T. Hughes on July
g. The topic will be “Canning and
Storing Vegetables at Home.”
Present were Mmes. P. B. Har-
bin, L. E. McDonald, L. C. Lewis,
Cecil Williams, and C. E. Throck-
morton.
