celebrated his birthday on
Monday, November 15, 1976
Happy Birthday, Bo!
Bandera HD Club
The Bandera County Home
Demonstration Club met
November 8, in the home of
Mrs. Christian Kalka. Mrs.
Nick Abrescia, president,
conducted the business meeting
and heard reports from com-
mittees.
The program planned by Mrs. i
Mack Joiner was given by Mrs.
Dan Alanis and included a
sample of the art of “quilling".
The ladies of yesteryear used
pen quills to wrap decorative
designs with strips of paper,
which they then pasted to
packages or plaques to form
Butterflies, kittens or other
designs of their imagination.
This was one of the fine arts
acquired by Mrs. Joiner at the
THDA meeting at College
Station. The other workshop she
attended was regarding
genealogy. She noted that one
man paid a goodly sum to have
his family researched, and then
paid the same amount not to
nave it publicized! Mrs. Alanis
explained how to start a family
chart and use the Genealogy
Section publications in the
county library.
Our hostess conducted the
games after the meeting, and
had a beautiful table of refresh-
ments.
Attending were Mesdames
Minnie Hayes, Sarah Mazurek,
Minnie Turner, Alma Juenke,
Nick Abrescia, John F.
Langford, Mildred Kramer,
Dan C. Alanis, Mrs. Kalka, and
Miss Beth Cummings.
