tennial year of our nation and

celebration of 200 years of
freedom Aside from Roger s'
athletic achievements, he was
also a member of the Future
Farmers of America for four
years He plans to attend St
Philip’s College in San Antonio
and become a mechanic.
LOL ELLEN STKICKKK
Roger Kent Sprott, son of Mr
and Mrs Leroy Sprott, has
attended the Bandera Public
Schools all his life. Born in
Kerrville, Texas, Roger has
traveled little out of the hill
country Austin, Texas, is an
interesting city to him,
however, because of the many
activities in our state capitol
He enjoys all sports, which is
indicative of the fact that he
lettered in football four years,
baseball for three years, and
track for one year He also likes
horseback riding, swimming,
fishing, hunting, and*just being
out in nature Barbara Merris is
a special person in Roger’s life
Mr Blucher and Coach
Atkinson are his favorite
teachers at Bandera High
School Roger’s very thoughtful
philosophy of life is this: “Be
fair towards others and lend a
helping hand because someday
you also may need a helping
hand." Roger is proud to be an

Born on November 16, 1957,
Ixiu Ellen Strieker is the thir-
teenth child in a family of
fourteen children! She is the
daughter of Mrs. Harriett
Strieker and the late Adolph
Strieker, and has lived in
Bandera all of her life. Knit-
ting, sewing, crocheting, em-
broidering, bike riding, being
with her nieces and nephews,
and collecting “old stuff” are
among Lou’s favorite things to
do She also enjoys working
with crafts and taking long
walks in the country.
Lou's philosophy of life is
this: "Life is today...today well-
lived makes each yesterday a
dream of happiness, and each
tomorrow a vision of hope.”
Dolores Martinez, Sandra
Cielencki, Elaine Jureczki,
Debbie Adamietz, Mrs. Keese,
Mrs Ruede, Mr. Murrell, the
Doebbler family, and especially
Mr Kneupper are among the
many friends with whom Lou
takes time to laugh!
She has traveled through
Ruidoso, New Mexico,
Atlants, Georgia, Raleigh and
Fayetteville, North Carolina,
and Texas. North Carolina and
New Mexico seem very
beautiful to Lou, but she is
extremely proud to be a citizen
of the great state of Texas'
Charles Lindbergh is
favorite of Lou's “not only
because he helped advance our
aviation through his solo flight
to Paris, but because he valued
his own family’s welfare above
his own fame and fortune He
showed this by moving his
family out of the U S when their
lives were threatened.’’
Many people have fought for
life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness during the 200 years
of America and because of this
Lou feels that the Bicentennial
is very special.
Lou was track manager for
bne year, an FHA member for
two years, serving as first vice-
president, a member of Drama
Club for two years, Pep Squad
one year where she was voted
"hardest worker", on the Pen-
in-paw and Annual staff one
year, in National Honor Society
for two years, and photographer
for a year. Lou was also a
candidate for Miss Bandera
County, a CO-ED correspon-
dent, named to the group chosen
to go to Girls State, and has
achieved all three levels of the
Encounter Program in FHA
Lou plans to attend college and
take business courses, then live
life to the fullest!

“Strive to be happy and do not
give up hope.” This is the
philosophy of Sandra Kay,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Riymon Cielencly. Born in San
Antonio, Texas, Sandra at-
tended Holy Rosary Catholic
School before coming to Ban-
dera. Fishing, swimming,
playing tennis and volleyball,
macrame, sculpture, painting,
and embroidery are some of her
interests and hobbies. Sandra
has traveled to the United
States-Mexico border where she
visited Laredo and Nuevo
Laredo. She also has traveled to
Arkansas, which is her favorite
place because of its beautiful
wooded areas of oak and pine,
tumbling waterfalls, and lakes.
Sandra's family, Lou Strieker,
and Debbie Adamietz are very
special to her. The Bicentennial
means to Sandra: “Since 1776,
the United States of America
has developed from the original
thirteen states into a great
country made up of fifty states,
and today the United States is
still growing." Sandra is a
member of the National Honor
Society, has won a perfect at-
tendance award for two years,
was on the Pen-in-Paw staff one
year and was just selected to go
to Girls State this year. She
plans to find a job after
graduation and once
established, would like to travel
throughout the United States,
particularly in Ohio and Ken-
tucky.
