The marking of local historic
sites and landmarks is part of the
Texas State Historical Survey
Committee’s program of
preservation activities. These
include archeological in-
vestigations, small museum
consultation, and administering
the National Historic Preservation
Act in Texas. As of 1970 the Survey
Committee had erected more than
5,000 official markers.
The name and location of the
present marker will appear in the
next edition of the Guide to Official
Texas Historical Markers in order
to stimulate tourist travel in this
area, to arouse interest in
historical tours, and to acquaint
the people of this locale with their _
unique heritage.
