Our deepest sympathy to our
Cynthia Mayberry and family in
the loss of her son John Shipman in
Ft. Worth. John-- is the one who
underwent the heart surgery a few
days ago. Mrs. Mayberry’s
daughter and husband, Mr and
Mrs. Bill Allen of Medina, came
for her Friday evening and the/
went to Ft. Worth for the services.
We thank them for sharing with us
flowers from the memorial ser
vice. Many of her" family and
ffiends came by to see her. She

receive their degrees. They are
now Dietetic Supervisors ap-
proved by the American Dietetic
Association We are real proud of
these girls; it meant many nights
of driving to San Antonio.

David Rader, both from Selma,
Oklahoma, and Ella Archibald of

MILBURN FRANK LACKEY
IS KILLED IN PICKUP
TRUCK ACCIDENT
Milburn Frank Lackey, age 66,
of San Antonio and a former
resident of Medina, was killed
when his pickup truck ran off the
road north of Fort Davis, Texas,
about noon Friday, May 30, 1975
The truck ttirneQ end over end and
■he was thrown out. He was
pronounced dead at the scene by
Fort Da,vis Justice of the Peace

Texas Highway Patrolman
Ervin Newman of Fort Davis said
the accident occurred about 11:55
„a.m. Friday on SH 17 in Jeff
Davis County. Patrolman
Newman said Lackey was north
bound on SH 17 when his pickup
went off the right side of the road
His truck hit a culvert, nosed into
a ditch and flipped end over end
The truck rolled over Lackey's
body after he was thrown from the
truck
Mr Lackey was born in
Rocksprings, Texas, on April 18,
1909
Funeral services were held
June 3, 1975, at Plummer Funeral
Chapel at 2 p.m. with interment in
Oak Rest Cemetery in Medina
Officiating at the service was Rev
Richard Porche of the Medina
Baptist Church
Pallbearers serving were
Jimmy Lackey, John Lackey, Pat
Lackey of Freeport and Tom
Andreas, Kenneth Andreas and
Todd Anderwald of Bandera.
Mr Lackey’s survivors include
-his wife, Teresa Lackey of San
Antonio; daughters, Mrs Dorothy
Louise Edwards of Germany and
Mrs Ruby Mae O'Neil of San
Antonio; sons, Thomas R Lackey
of Alpine -and John Lackey of
Alaska; sisters, Mrs. Audrey
Talbert, Mrs. Kenneth Parks of
San Antonio and Mrs. Pal Kingery
of Kingsland; brothers, Tom
Lackey of Freeport and Bethel

holding a daisy and gingham
flower arrangement
The refreshment table was
decorated in pastel yellow and
blue. Refreshments were a variety
of cakes, punch, nuts and mints

The annual C. C iLumi Miller
family reunion was held last
Sunday at the river on the. Grady
McHaney place. Sixty-five guests
registered and there were families
from Austin and Fredericksburg
A delicious dinner was served and
they are all looking forward to
another reunion next year.

mony at St. John Vianney Catholic

the three Fleming children, H L.
Ill, Christine and Rhonda, whose
parents are Mr and Mrs. Harry
Fleming of Medina, for their
winning the “Smokey Bear" and
Woodsey Owl” environmental
poster contest sponsored by the
Medina Rose Garden Club.
This week Christine received the

winning third place in the national
competitiion:
