VETERANS DAY OBSERVED
The TV news reports tell us
that veterans all over the country
have, demonstrated their
displeasure over the changing of
the date of Veterans Day from 1 1
November to 25 October.
This was true in Bandera, too.
When the real Armistice Day
arrived. Old Faithful Roy
Hartman turned out as he has
always done and ran the colons up
the flagpole at the Legion Home.
The reason given by the
government for changing the date
was to give people another long
week-end. But the members of
Bandera Post No. 157, The
American Legion, believe that
there is more to life than the
pursuit of pleasure. We insist on
proper, traditional observance of
the memory of those who gave
their lives for the preservation of
the American way of life.
We arc thankful also for the
devotion of Roy Hartman.
