Rocksprings Churches Welcome You
T. M. MITCHELL .
Dear Citizens of Rocksprings and
Edwards County:
This space has been bought in good
faith by ^ the business concerns men-
tioned, for the purpose of stimulating
an interest in church attendance. It is
our purpose to mention some of the
values of our churches in. our com-
munity.
The church is not a necessary nuis-
ance as some of you might think, but
it is a permanent institution touching
the lives of all who attend its services.
It will be preserved unto the end of
time.

A MESSAGE FROM REV. T. M. MITCHELL,
PASTOR FIRST METHODIST CHURCH
Jesus, its founder, said to one of His
Apostles, “I tell you, your name is
Peter, a rock, and on this rock, I will
build my Church, and the powers of
darkness shall not subdue it.” (Good-
speed Translation). The church among
many things tries to hold up Jesus,
and to interpret His teachings. It is
the greatest force for morality and
righteous living. In it our children are
dedicated to the Lord and receive
their first public instructions for a
Christian living. Our young people
find in its services a source of help and
comfort. From within its walls the re-
mains of our blessed dead are remov-
ed to the little plot where for them
eternity takes its first step.
“The Churche’s one foundation
Is Jesus Christ her Lord:
She is His new creation
By water and the word:
From Heaven He came and sought
her
To be His holy bride;
With His own blood He bought her,
And for her life He died.”
' The church will play a constructive
role in the dynamic process that makes
history meaningful. Shall we support
it then with our time, with our pre-
sence, and with our money? I for one
believe that every Christian should be
actively and persistently engaged in
the work of one of our churches in
town, which is exercising a positive
influence for the sake of peace, $nd
justice, and righteousness, against the
forces of hate, greed, and sin. “Let us
hold fast the profession of our faith
without wavering—Not forsaking the
assembling of ourselves together, &»
the manner of some is.”
Faithfully yours,
T. M. Mitchell.
