01 tickets for Big Thursday. Never
before in the history of St. Louis
fairs were so many tickets sold in
advance. Almost 100,000 tickets have
been disposed of for tho big day
alcne.
The revived fair spirit seems
stronger than the original, perhaps
because St. Louis has not had a fair
•irce the worlds fair in 1904. The
now fair will be so widely different
from other fairs it will be unique in
local fair history. The whole show
will be under tonts with the except
tion of the track events and the
Sportsmen's '.shows ar.d shooting
meets. Tent experts have declared
the fair is to be the biggest tent

General Manager Joseph Murphy,
who is familiar in racing circles the
•world over, has made severel trips to
the east and into Kentucky to enlist
eu*iies for the great races. Besides
the $3,000 stake and St! Louis cup ^
race on Big Thursday there will be
running and hamdhs events every
day in the week.
The daily program will include a
race between an aeroplane .and an
automobile 'over a ten mile course,
a demonstration of the new fangled
unicycle, which the inventors declare
tarn make over 700 miles an hour, an
ostrich race, military drills, athletic
•vents, flights of aeroplanes, wild
west shows and a demonstration of
criminal hunting blood hounds.
These are but a few of the top notch
events. There is a 11 acre lake on
the grductls which will be the scene
of' several aquatic contests of inter-
est to sportsmen.
Ther new fair is located in St. Louis
county i*>-t a mile and a quarter
