was the closing paragraph of the
letter signed Mamie and Dwight
Eisenhower and sent to Mr. and
Mrs. G. A. Wright Sunday on their
60th wedding anniversary which
they observed in the Women's
Building at the fair grounds with
some 400 people attending.
Another letter of congratulations
was received from Rep. George
Mahon.
Granddaughters of the couple al-
ternated at registering the guests.
Hosts for the observance were
the children of Mr. and Mrs.
Wright, with all seven of them be-
ing present. All of the grandchil-
dren except three attended and a
number of the great grandchildren.
The reception table was laid with
a white crocheted cloth over rose.
Tapered crystal holders held can-
dles in shades of rose, green and
white, colors used throughout the
reception. At each table corner
was a crystal vase holding rose
buds. The ornate tiered wedding
cake, with miniature bride and
groom atop, featured rose confec-
tion flowers encircled with a gar-
land of green confections.
Cake, coffee and punch were
served with the daughters, daugh-
ters - in - law and granddaugh-
ters alternating at serving.
Mrs. Wright was wearing an or-
chid corsage, a gift from her hus-
band, as the couple greeted their
guests.
Among those from out-of-town,
attending were: Mrs. Ben Vernon
Johnnie V. Jemigan, Mr. and Mrs
A. P. Hodges and daughter Louise.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Conley and
son, Mr. and Mrs.' Robert Conley
and daughter, all of Lubbock; Mr.

at Christmas dinner

ior Study Club and their husbands
enjoyed a Christmas dinner and
party at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. John Goodpasture Friday
night.
To set the scene for the hospital-
ity was a white - flocked Christ-
mas tree with pink ornaments in
the living room and a pink Christ-
mas tree in the den.
Small tables were laid with
white linen and centered with a
pink candle encircled with green-
ery.
A traditional turkey dinner with
Games of bridge followed the meal.

Christmas play
presented Sunday
Girl Scout Troop 215 presented
a Christmas play at the First Pres-
byterian Church from 3 to 4 p.m.
Sunday \vith parents and members
of Brownie Troop 253 invited as
special guests.
The girls accomplished three
achievements toward their second
rank badge by presenting the dra-
matic play; making the cookies
and sewing on the costumes and
entertaining after the play.
tPhe costumes worn in the Nativi-
ty play were all made by the
girls. They wrote their own scrip!
and made the scenes for back-
drops including painting the hills
of Bethlehem on cardboard.
The girls alternated at serving
punch and cookies after the play
presentation.
Two girls from an inactive sen-
ior Girl Scout Troop, Jackie Har-
grove and Ruth Cammach, sang
Christmas carols.
Members of Troop 215 are: Don-
na Bynum, Jesse Cammack, Den-
nese Cary, Cheryl Cooke, Pat
Harper, Marion Knight, Jackie

Austin Street Church of Christ,
gave the invocation and a short
talk on “The Unchristian Things
about Christmas,” was given by
Rev. Fred Brewton, pastor of the
First Presbyterian Church.
Introduction of the board mem-
bers and wives was made by Dr.
Thomas Spencer, president of the
college.
The group joined in singing
Christmas carols, directed by Har-
ley Bulls, accompanied at the pia-
no by Mrs. Bulls.
Following the meal, card games,
forty two and dominoes were en-
joyed.

Mrs. Zula Knight
teaches fifth grade
Mrs. Zula M. Knight, fifth grade
teacher in the Whiteface School,
taught school and was principal in
small schools in DeWitt County
before coming to Whiteface.
She also taught language arts in
the seventh and eighth grades at
Aspermont three years.
Mrs. Knight received her bache-
lor of sicence degree from McMur-
ry College, Abilene, and her mas-
ter of science degree from Texas
Tech.
She is a widow and has two
sons, Kenneth and Jerry, and one
daughter, Bobbie, who is now ser-
ving in the U. S. Air Force sta-
tioned at Stewart Air Force Base
New York. She also has two grand
children, Kenny and Lou Ann.
Mrs. Knight's outside interests
vary from painting with oils to col-
lecting old picture frames.' She
also paints with watercolors and
enjoys reading and writing maga-
zine articles.
She is a member 6f the South
Plains Art Guild; long - time
member and trustee of the Texas
Fine Arts Association, Austin,
Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority Beta
Conclave, Lubbock; Order of the
Eastern Star No. 797, Levelland;
Rebekah Lodge No. 279, Whiteface,
Texas State Teachers Association;

Fashion premier
set for Ja tuary
A natic-al premier of women’s
spring fashions will be held Jan.
27 at Texas Tech, with the insti-
tution’s School of Home Econom-
ics Vogue Patters and other na-
tional manufacturers cooperating.
New spring fashions around the
clock will be the theme of the
show, which will present new Vog
ue spring pattersn for 1959 plus
new fabrics and accessories of oth-
er manufacturers.
It will be the first national fash-
ion event of its kind ever held in
West Texas. The new fabrics and
accessories and most of the pat-
terns will go on sale in stores
throughout the country Jan. 28.
After the national premier at
Tech, the show will be taken on a
tour of other U. S. cities.
More than 40 students in Tech’s
clothing and textiles department
will prepare the garments and mo-
del them at the show, Supervis-
ing their work is Dr. Gene Shel-
den.
Narrator for the premier will be
Bess Rothman of Dallas, fashion
consultant who is working with
Barbara H. Lolley of New Yprk
City, Vogue fashion coordinator.

World Society” will be shown in
the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s
Witnesses, 201 Avenue A and 2nd
Street, at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday,
Dec. 17.
According to Alfred Ferguson,
minister for Jehovah's Witnesses
in Levelland, "this picture has
been shown in more than one hun-
dred lands around the world even
including the Wilds of Africa.”
“You have heard and read about
Jehovah’s witnesses or talked with
some of them,” said Feruuson,
“and now is your opportunity in',
viewing this picture to actually see
them at work and learn most in-
teresting facts about them.” "The
theme of the picture is the happi-
ness of all of God’s servants and
is based on the text, John 13: 17:
If you know these things, happy
you are if you do them,” Fergu-
son explained.
There will be no charges or col-
lections it was announced. The pic-
ture is being shown in oonnec
tion with the circuit assembly of
Jehovah’s witnesses scheduled in
Levelland Dec. 19-21. The public
is invited to all sessions.
Members of the Levelland Wo-
man’s Club will send a large box
of requested items to the state hos-
pital at Wichita Falls Thursday.
The box will include clothing of
all types, hats, shoes, suits, dress-
es, cosmetics for both men and
women, jewelry, evening dresses
and other items.
Christmas wrappings will be in-
cluded in the box for the wrapping
of the gifts.
The club also took food to a
needy family in Levelland last
week and members are collecting
toys for the Goodfellows for bas- *
kets at Christmas.

R. J. “BILL” DISON
This week’s customer has lived in
Levelland since January, 1946. He
is a former city councilman, for-
mer member of the Board of Stew-
ards at the Methodist Church, and
former director of the Chamber of
Commerce.
Bill Dison has been in the real
estate business since March, 1951.
He now occupies a new office at
609 Austin.
Prior to going into the real estate
business, Dison worked in the news
paper business in Hale Center,
Lockney, Wheeler, and Levelland.
He was born in Canyon, and at-
tended high school there. After
graduation from high School, Dison
attended West Texas State College
and Texas Tech.
He was married in 1931 to the
former. Gladys Watson of Hale
Center. They have two sons, Don,
a senior at Tech, and Jerry, a
freshman at McMurry College in
Abilene. -
Dison is a member of the Meth-
odist Church, the Rotary Club, and
the new City Planning Board. The
family resides at 1210 Avenue B
in Levelland.
