1'' DEATH IN DESERT
Endure Hardships for Realism
The latest Neal Hart picture,
“Danger . Valley,” is a story of the
desert, and was filmed in tne midst
of Death Valley, California.
The hardship endured by the Uttls
party of .actor*, actresses, camera-
men and assistants who jomeyed into
this grim wilderness for the purpose
of getting “the .real thing in motion
pictures, are eloquently described in
a letter that was written from the
studio in Hollywood on the day after
the pary returned. >1 ;■
“Neal Hart and his company re-
turned from the desert Sqpday after-
no m,” the letter states.
Took Weird Pictures
“They report taking some very
weird pictures, and they have some-
thing of unusual merit and the first
thing of its kind ever made of .Death
Valley. They had some wonderful
experiences on their trig!, which occu-
pied two weeks but was made without
any accidentalor mishaps except phy*
sical discomfort.
“There were places in this valley
where the borax nad formed pyra-
mids, with sharp points which rose
out of the ground; and these had to
be knocked off or broken dorm in ov-
er to make a road for the autos to
vel. Neal and his party saw only.

HONESTY AS A POLICY
While the war was in progress and
prices were constantly advancing
there was little temptation to persons
in business to engage in frauds. It
was too easy to make money honestly
U> warrant the risk of fopl practice.
But since there has been a slackening
in trade crooked failures atld success-
ful fires are said to have inVreased
greatly. The National Association
of Credit Men . is pushing egaes
against 110 men charged with com-
mitting crimes to escape payment of
debts. • • £
