This brings an uplifting end
to a tragic story that happened
on December 16, 2008, when
the Kent Jisha family vehicle ran
off the icy bridge over Lake Fork
and plunged into the lake. The
Jisha's l4-month-old daughter
died in the accident.
The Jtsha’s digital camera containing
the last photographs of their baby girl
was also lost in the wreck. The
family, who live in Yantis, sent
out a plea to the public for the
recovery of the camera.
The fisherman had no knowl-
edge of the accident or the fam-
ily’s appeal. Instead of throwing
the camera back into the lake he
turned it in to the sponsors of the
tournament.
The camera was returned to
the Jisha family and, according
to reports, they are in the process
of getting the images restored.

President of Friends of
Rains County Public Library
It’s time for fall cleaning
and as my Granny used to say,
“The bookshelves are the first
to be swept clean of all dem
books that are not your best
friends,..you’re keeping dem
dust collectors from meeting
new friends."
So check yoyjdxiokshelves to
see what books yob can donate
to Friends of the Library before
their semi-annual book sale in
the Meadows Cultural Center
(see times below).
As Graucho Marx, using his
wry sense of humor, once said,
“Outside of a dog, a book is a
man’s best friend. Inside of a
dog, it’s too dark to read."
The annual meeting of the
Friends took place on Septem-
ber 22. After working on mem-
bership and as treasurer this
Garrison Keillor
past year. Dee Woods received
applause and “thank yous” as
she stepped down from her one-
year board of director’s position.
Carolyn West was voted in to
take the fifth board position.
The public is invited to the
catered opening of the Meadows
Cultural Center on Thursday,
October 1, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.,
and the book sale is on Friday
and Saturday, Oct. 9-10, from
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
MARCH’S FRIENDS’ BOOK SALE brought hundreds of people
together getting great deals on thousands of books to add to their
bookshelves. Mark your calendars for the Early Bird sale for Friends
only on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and for the general
public on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 9-10, from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
