“THAT LEETLE OLE TURNIP."
Well, Mr. Editor I guess you
are guessing uow what’s coming
next; but my discourse will be
on a ’’leetle turnip”. The whys
and wherefores of this discourse
arise from a big‘‘to do” I saw
in the Harper Herald a few days
ago, concerning a large >uinip
which my brother in law, Alf
Stevens, raised. Now, “this
here turnip” measured, so Alf
says, 14 1-2 inches in circumfer-
ence. Mr. Editor,you personally
know Alf and know “of” the
little town where be lives, and
you also km w:
That su h a blowing fellow,
In such a blowing town
—T li h i turnip might have
measured
But seven inches round.
However, it may be that turnip
looked big in Harper; but we
would sa.v in Schleicher that it
whs only a small turnip. Now.
I have a “little turnip” in my
patch which measures just 19
inches in circumference. Don’t
you know it would look BIG in
Harper. Now, Mr. Editor. I’ll
bring the goods to your office
and show them. Trusting the
next time Alf makes such a
blow it won’t be over ns small a
thing as “that little old turnip. ’
W. A. Spencer.
