Mount Zion
First Baptist
Returns Home
On the morning of July 21,
1974, Mt. Zion First Baptist’s
sanctuary was destroyed by
fire. Many members watched
with heavy hearts and great
disappointment. That has been
over a year ago now.
Mt. Zion First Baptist Is
located at 333 Martin Luther
King drive. Rev. C.W. Black
Jr., Is pastor.
Mt. Zion First Baptist orig-
inated In 1871, with a group at
new freed slaves, whose un-
dying determination has brought
them thus far.
It was on the morning of July
21, Mt. Zion First realized
many sacrifices had to be made
and much determination was
needed. Mt. Zion has held
morning services from that day
on In Douglass school audito-
rium.
Through much support at
their members and this com-
munity the members at Mt.
Zion will return home on De-
cember 21, 1975, Vast In time
for Christmas.
According to Charles A.
Hudspeth, Jr. chairman of board
of trustees and general chair-
man of Building counctl, there
will be a schedule at events for
that day.
At 7 o’clock Sunday morning,
there will be a march from
Douglass school auditorium to
Mt. Zion First Baptist church.
Tuggles and Craves, archi-
tect, “Dick* Donat, the con-
tractor, the minister and trust-
ees will all play a special part
as Mt. Zion receives the key
to the new building. It will
also be at this time that the
Ritual of the Sanctuary will
taka place with the Gaudalupe
District association. The Rev.
J.J. Rector will be officiating.
Rav. Albert E. Chew, Jr.
from Shiloh Missionary Bap-
tist church, Ft. Worth, will be
present for the 11 o'clock serv-
ice.
Four o’clock, Sunday after-
noon will and the Building coun-
cil hosting a reception. The
special guests for the evening
will be Ms. Mote 11 Wilson from
KAPE Radio Station; Ms. Katie
Ferguson from KSAT, Channel
12; Jsaaa Henry, Jr. from the
Express-News; Ed Glosson
from the Light; U.J. Andrews,
managing editor of the San An-
tonio Register.
This Is the 'Going - Home
service for Mt. Zion First Bap-
tist. The dedication of the
church will be at a later date.

Be in Recital
Greater Pilgrim Rest Bap-
tist church, 503 Corliss street,
win present Mrs. Hattie Doug-
las In a solo recital Dec. 19,
at seven o’clock In the eve-
ning. The Gospel Squad, God’s

ists, groups and chairs will else
be presented.

FR. C. D. SEITER
ORDAINED--Father Charles
David Setter was recently or-
dained to the priesthood in the
Congragatlon of the Holy Ghost,
In ceremonies at St. Plus X
church in Dallas. In San An-
tonio he had been serving as
a deacon associate at St. Jo-
seph Downtown and Holy Re-
deemer parishes. He has been
assigned to serve as associate
pastor at the two parishes.

Fr. Seiter
Father Charles David Seller,
C.S. Sp„ who has been serving
as a deacon associate at St.
Joseph Downtown and Holy Re-
deemer parishes, was ordained
to the priesthood in the Con-
gregation of the Holy Ghost in
ceremonies at St. Pius X
Church, Dallas. A number of
parishioners from both local
parishes attended the ordina-
tion.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo
J. Seiter of Dallas, Father Sel-
ler was born Sept. 15, 1949 In
Conway, Arkansas. He attend-
ed Bishop Lynch High school In
Dallas, St . Thomas seminary
in Denver and received his
bachelor of arts degree from
St. Thomas university in Hous-
ton. Last May, he was award-
ed the master's In theology
from Oblate College of the
Southwest, San Antonio. He was
ordained a deacon on Aug. 30,
1975.
Archbishop Francis J. Fur-
ey, D.D. has assigned Father
Seiter to serve as associate
pastor to Father William A.
Killian at St. Joseph Downtown-
Holy Redeemer parishes.
On Sunday, Dec. 21, both con-
gregations will welcome Father
Seller back to San Antonio with
a concelebrated mass to be of-
fered by him at 12:30 at St.
Joseph’s Downtown church.
The music for the Mass will
be sung by the Intercollegiate
choir of Incarnate Word col-
lege under the direction of Dr.
Joseph Murgo.
The sermon for the occasion
will be preached by Father Kil-
lian. The Knights and Ladles
auxiliary of Peter Claver will
form a guard of honor In the
procession to the church.
A reception honoring Father
Seiter will follow the mass In
the rectory.
Cuero Church
Celebrates
Anniversary
CUEHO--Macedonia Baptist
church, Rev. H.S. Smith, pas-
tor, recently observed its 84th
anniversary. Highlighting the
morning service, which vas
well attended, was the South
Union Baptist church choir
from Houston. It rendered
several very inspirational
numbers.
The message was brought
by a young minister who ac-
companied the Houstonians.
Mrs. Marvls Smith Gary, a
former member, sponsored the
choir’s appearance. The group
arrived by chartered bus.
Rev. John A. Hall, pastor of
Trinity Baptist church, San An-
tonio, was the guest speaker at
the afternoon service. He was
accompanied by his choir and
congregation, and they also ar-
rived by chartered bus.
Many former members from
out of state and in state attend-
ed the services. Also present
were Cuero ministers and their
congregations.
Dinner was served in the Fel-
lowship hall following the serv-
ice.

Musical at
New Mt. Pleasant
The combined choirs of New
Mt. Pleasant Baptist church
will present their pre-Christ-
mas musical Sunday evening,
Dec. 21, at the 7:15 hour.
Special local talent will be

street, Seguin, the Rev. A.J.

special Honor Day services
Sunday, December 21, at three
o’clock. Special honorees will
be Leroy Brown and other mem-
bers of the church, who will be
cited for meritorious services
rendered to the church and
community during 1975.

gregation of the Mt. Sinai Bap-
tist church will be special
