ent Information Meeting from
6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12, in the
Lecture Hall at Denton High
School, 1007 Fulton St.
Students and parents with an
interest in hearing more about
the IB Diploma Program are en-
couraged to attend. Denton
High, according to the district, is
one of 50 IB high schools in the
state and the only school in the
Dallas-Fort Worth area that of-
fers both the IB Middle Years
and Diploma programs.

The Liberty Christian School
varsity cheerleaders finished
second in the high school inter-

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders
National Championship at
AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
“It was great for our cheer-
leaders to get additional compe-
tition experience under their
belt to help develop our compet-
itive program,” coach Stephanie
Jones said in a school statement.

teers.
Liberty students take
part in spelling bee
Several Liberty Christian
third- through eighth-grade stu-
dents participated in the local
Association of Christian Schools
International spelling bee last
month in Arlington.
Fourth-grader lily Hagge
finished first and third-grader
Karlee Dark finished fourth in
their respective grade levels, ac-
cording to school officials.
In the final spell-off, which
included the top finishers in the
fifth through eighth grades,
eighth-grader Ashley Howard
placed third and seventh-grader
Hannah Taylor came in fourth.
Volunteers are currently as-
sisting in planning fundraising
events and evaluating grant ap-
plication submissions. The
foundation provides supple-
mental funds for Kram ISD en-
richment programs not funded
by the district.
People with an interest in
volunteering are encouraged to
attend the foundation’s next
meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 16 or
on the third Monday of every
month at the Kram ISD Admin-
istration Building, 1200 Bobcat
Blvd.

School’s advanced theater pro-
gram, was awarded the champi-
onship title at the Stone Gate
Christian Academy Invitational
Speech and Drama Tournament
last month in Irving.

The top two competitors in
the Denton County bee will ad-
vance to the The Dallas Morn-
ing News Regional Spelling Bee
slated for March 21 in Dallas and
vie for a chance at moving on to
the Scripps National Spelling
Bee in Washington, D.C.
Students in the fourth
through eighth grades partici-
pated in the bee at Immaculate
Conception recently. Bee final-
ists also included second run-
ner-up Brandy Sorrells, Hannah
Payne, Brett Sorrells, Makenna
Connors, Katherine Dunlop,
Caleb Garland, Alex Holmes, Eli
Thibodeaux, Rachel Fox and
Cohen Finch.
KISD starts ES3 Awards
Four Denton ISD students
were recently selected to the
Texas Music Educators Associa-
tion’s all-state choir. The stu-
dents will perform at the TMEA
Convention next week in San
Antonio.
The students selected are:
■ Denton High School soph-
omore Courtney Lawson, sopra-
no 2 (third chair);
■ Guyer High School sopho-
more Kate Gillman, alto 2 (sev-
enth chair), and junior Kylie
Jensen, alto 2 (sixth chair); and
