CORINTH — This summer,
Lake Dallas coach Michael
Young said he thought his sec-
ondary was one of the best he
has coached. On Friday, though,
it struggled to slow down Lucas
Lovejoy standout Aaron Fuller.
With Fuller scoring three
times through the air, Lovejoy
(2-1) beat Lake Dallas 34-21 at
Falcon Stadium. After falling
behind and losing a comerback
early to injury, the Falcons (1-2)
couldn’t play Fuller like they
wanted to, and he made them

good.
‘We probably play Fuller a lot
differently if we’re ahead or clos-
er in the game,” Young said. We
had to take some chances, and
that’s what happens.”
Lake Dallas moved the ball in
stretches offensively, racking up
276 yards, but it couldn’t estab-
lish a consistent running game.
Making his third start, junior
quarterback Spencer Frederick-
son was more aggressive passing
downfield, but he missed several
big plays. He finished with 16-

“There’s a lot road left, but I
think when we get to the end of
this season, we’ll be a good foot-
ball team,” Young said.
Part of the hope is rooted in
all-district quarterback Dagan
Haehn, who tore his ACL in the
spring but could be ready to re-
turn soon. Before the game,
Haehn warmed up with the
team, making throws and mov-
ing in the pocket with a knee
brace but no pads.

“It was a hard win,” Pilot
Point sophomore quarterback
Quincy Kemp said. ‘We just
had to keep fighting. Our coach-
es tell us to go 100 percent in
practice every day, so we just
have to go out there and do it”
Despite entering the game
having struggled on the offen-
sive side of the ball, the Chap-
arrals dominated for most of
the first half. With touchdown
runs of 58, 69 and 73 yards,
Aubrey scored more points in
the first two quarters against
Pilot Point (21) than its first
two games combined (7).
However, it was a tale of
two halves for the Chaparrals.
Aubrey added another
touchdown early in the fourth
quarter, but the Chaparrals
were unable to continue their
dominance on the ground
against Pilot Point.
After picking up more than
270 yards and three touch-
downs on the ground in the
first half, the Chaparrals
couldn’t seem to finish off
drives with the same consis-
tency in the second half.
“I have to credit our defen-
sive coaches,” Pilot Point coach
Rob Best said. “They got
things corrected at halftime,

Bailey had his third straight
game with more than 250 to-
tal yards and ran for four
touchdowns, while Kemp
added 389 total yards and two
rushing touchdowns.
Although the Bearcats fin-

win, it was yet another week
with more than 100 yards in
penalties. Pilot Point finished
with nine penalties for 106
yards.
