Police: Drunk man crashes
motorcycle in parking lot
An intoxicated person took a
joyride on a motorcycle and
crashed early Sunday morning
in the parking lot of Rockin’ Ro-
deo, according to a police report.
Officers were en route to re-
spond to a call that a 31-year-old
man was drunk and riding his
motorcycle in the parking lot in
the 1000 block of South Avenue
C when the man crashed and
was transported to a local hospi-
tal with multiple head lacera-
tions. Police said he wasn’t wear-
ing a helmet.
Upon arrival, the suspect re-
fused treatment, according to
School board to hear
campus plans, goals
Denton ISD campus admin-
istrators will present campus
improvement plans and goals
for the current school year to the
school board tonight.
The meeting starts at 6 p.m.
at the Stephens Central Admin-
istration Building, 1307 N. Lo-
cust St. in Denton.
Several plans from Denton
ISD administrators include ob-
jectives for improving standard-
ized test scores, student perfor-
mance, instruction, academic
achievement, attendance and
parent and community involve-
ment. Administrators at several
schools are also looking at plans
to shrink the achievement gap
among students and decrease
the number of students needing
intervention in various subject
areas.

High — on preparing their im-
provement plans.
According to documents at-
tached with the agenda for to-
night’s meeting, the campus im-
provement plans are the drivers
for schools in accomplishing
their goals for the year. Accord-
ing to the Texas Education Code,
school board trustees are re-
quired to ensure that school dis-
tricts and individual campuses
develop, review and revise cam-
pus improvement plan annually.
Each year, the board approves
district and campus improve-
ment plans.

slated to consider approval of its
campus improvement plans
Oct. 28.

the suspect at the entryway and
recovered some of the merchan-
dise before the suspect ran.
Police stopped and detained
the suspect and later arrested
her for theft under $1,500 with
two or more previous convic-
tions after learning she’d been
arrested for theft on two differ-
ent occasions.

Burgess is scheduled to discuss
updates about Ebola, terrorists
of ISIS and information about
Obamacare at a Denton County
Precinct 4 town hall meeting at
7 p.m. today.
Denton County Judge Mary
Horn, Denton County Commis-
sioner Andy Eads and Randy
Plemons, operations chief of the
Denton County Sheriff’s De-
partment, will also be on hand,
answering questions and dis-
cussing relevant issues to the
county. Plemons will discuss the
sheriff’s department’s new com-
munication systems.
The meeting will be held at
the Country Abbey, 116 N. Jack-
son Avenue in Justin.

Approximately 90 Texas
Woman’s University students
assigned to Texas Presbyterian
Hospital Dallas are having to
relocate their “clinicals” to other
health care and medical facili-
ties because Presbyterian
closed its campus to non-essen-
tial personnel Sunday, accord-
ing to a statement issued Mon-
day by TWU President Carine
Feyten.
None of the students who
were working at the hospital
had contact with with either of
