Mrs. Caroline Andrew Wood,
was horn in Monroe County,
Miss, on July 9. 1854.
Early in life she united with
the Methodist Church. At the
age of twenty years she was
united in marriage to O. M.
Wood. To this union eight
children were horn. Of these,
six survive to mourn her home-
going: Mrs. W A. White, and
W. G. Wood, of Dew; David,
of Smith County, Texas; Mrs.
Evie Ballard, of Winsboro,
Texas; Misses 1'earl and Wil-
lie Belle Wood, of Oklahoma
City, Okla.; also twenty grand-
children, four great grand-
children, a brother a sister and
four half brothers.
In 1893 (he family moved.to
Texas, settling in Freestone
County, making their home at
Dew for many years.
About six years ago she
broke up house keeping and
has since been living among
her children. For several years
her health had been poor. She
died suddenly of heart failure
at her grand daughter’s, Mrs.
Corin Waul, in Okemah, Okla.,
and her remains were brought
back to Dew and laid by side of
her husband who died Jan. 30.
1903. Her children were al!
present at her burial. Funer-
i services were conducted by
Rev. I. O. Dent. Eld. G W.
White who had known her for
many years also made a talk.
Thus another faithful moth-
er in Israel, after enduring the
trials and afflictions of a long
earthly pilgrimage, has joined
the great host of the redeemed
that has gone before, and en-
tered into that rest that re-
mains for the people of God.
She often expressed herself as
being ready and willing “at
the cal! of her master to go.”
The wise man said. “That the
day of a man’s death was bet-
ter than the day of his birth.”
The Apostle Paul said, “for to
die is gain.” A Christian loses
