trailer truck Monday on Inter-
state 35 has been identified as
Harlea Barrentine, according to
a news release issued by the
Denton Police Department.
At the time of the accident, a
Texas Department of Transpor-
tation repair crew was doing
work northbound on 1-35 near
Rector Road in north Denton,

Man reports attempted
break-in of car
A man reported witnessing a
teenage boy attempting to break
into the man’s vehicle Monday
in the 5300 block of East Mc-
Kinney Street, according to
Denton police.
The man witnessed the boy
attempting to enter his vehicle
while carrying a flashlight, po-
lice noted in a report. Officers
didn’t find the suspect but were
given a description for their in-
vestigation, according to the re-
port. Officers also noticed that
other vehicles were burglarized,
but nothing seemed to be stolen,
police reported.

Drive — A woman reported to
Denton police Monday that her
friend took approximately
$3,500 and identifying infor-
mation from her bag.
2000 block of Boyd
Street — Denton police were
called to a residence where a
man was accused of hitting a
woman in the eye. The woman
had “bruises all over,” and the
man had left the residence be-
fore officers arrived, according
to the police report.
300 block of North Loop
288 — A man reported that his
estranged wife’s boyfriend
struck his 6-year-old son on the
butt with a spoon.
