Carter BloodCare hasn’t been asked to send blood to Orlando
HOW TO REACH US
Many North Texas residents
have asked where they could do-
nate blood for surviving victims.
“The best way is to become a
regular donor so that when
tragedies like Orlando happen,
we already have the blood on
the shelves,” Morgan said.
Bedford-based
ment to visit the Carter Blood-
Care Donor Center at 2215 S.
Loop 288, Suite 335 in Denton.

for details on donor eligibility,

North Texas American Red
Cross officials did not return
message for comment by press
time.
In a media release, national
American Red Cross officials
said Monday that the organiza-
tion distributed 30 units of
type O negative blood to Flori-
da hospitals following the
shooting and “stand ready to
provide additional blood and
blood products as needed.”
The Red Cross is urging that
eligible people make appoint-
ments to donate blood in the
coming weeks and months to
ensure a readily available blood
supply. For more details, visit

Carter BloodCare hasn’t re-
ceived calls to supply blood or
blood products to centers in Or-
lando, Fla., but they stand ready
to help if called upon, according
to Loretta Morgan, a spokes-
woman for the blood center.
“We don’t anticipate any
calls,” Morgan said via email.
Believed to be the deadliest
mass shooting on American soil
in modern history, a gunman
entered an Orlando nightclub
early Sunday morning and
opened fire killing 49 and injur-
ing about 50 others. The gun-
man was killed following a gun
fight with local law enforcement
officials.
