As the final early voting week begins,
voters are encouraged to go ahead and
vote if they’ve already made up their
minds on the candidates.
Historically, the final two days of ear-
ly voting are the busiest. Since early vot-
ing started Oct. 24, lines have been long,
and that trend seems to be continuing,
according to Lannie Noble, Denton
County elections administrator.
“Don’t wait until the last day to vote
unless you just can’t make up your mind
or are unable to [make it to the polls],”
he said.
Voter turnout closed Monday with
18,908 people voting in person and
1,125 mail-in ballots submitted, accord-
ing to Denton County Elections Ad-
ministration.

Early voting sites/2A
On Saturday, Denton County re-
ported a record in-person voter turnout
of 23,557. Also that day, 607 mail-in
ballots were received. On Sunday,
9,640 residents cast ballots at one of the
county’s more than 20 early voting loca-
tions, bringing the total number of per-
sons casting ballots in person or by mail
of ballots for the weekend to 33,804.
As of Monday, 157,598 residents had
voted early in Denton County.
Last week, confusion about whether
the proper voter identification fliers
were hung at polling locations ensued.
Noble said he’s since talked to election
judges at sites where inaccurate fliers
were hung to ensure they were re-
moved, and when elections technicians
are out delivering supplies to polling
sites, they’re looking for any outdated
fliers.

“I’m hoping that they’re all replaced
and taken down,” Noble said.
Late Friday, lisa Hendrickson, Den-
ton County Republican chairwoman,
issued a statement in which she claimed
GOP signs had been stolen and de-
faced.

“First, I heard of signs being repeat-
edly stolen from locations, and now I
am being sent evidence of sign deface-
ment,” Hendrickson said in her state-
ment. “This is being done by those who

Robin Brownell got the call a
little after 10 on a bright Sunday
morning.
Corinth police officers told the
Hawk Elementary School princi-
pal vandals had spray painted the
walls of her school.
When she got there, she saw
slang terms for marijuana — weed,
kush and an odd reference to Reef-
er Madness, a 1930s black-and-
white film. When the vandals tried
to spell marijuana, they left out an
“a” and decided to use editing
marks to sneak it in.
This all came just after Hawk
