Report: Child’s father
threatens to kill mother
A 19-year-old woman told
police Monday morning her
child’s father threatened to kill
her while brandishing a pocket
knife in her apartment in the
600 block of West Eagle Drive.
The police report said the
man walked into her apartment
and assaulted her, but it did not
mention whether the woman
was injured. The man was upset
because the woman was in-
volved with another man, the re-
port said.
The man left before police ar-
rived, and no arrests were made,
according to the report.
Other reports
3400 block of DePaul
Drive — Two 17-year-old boys
were arrested early Monday
morning after an off-duty feder-
al agent caught them entering
unlocked cars, according to a
police report. Two victims, ages
57 and 47, were included in the
police report. The suspects were
taken to Denton City Jail, the re-
port said. The report gave no
further details.
400 block of North Loop
288 — A Pizza Hut reportedly
was burglarized early Monday
morning. The suspect shattered
glass to enter the building, but
the police report did not men-
tion any stolen items. The sus-
pect left before police arrived,
and no arrests were made, the
report said.
“What an awesome lady.
We lived in Shady Shores for
20 years and had many
interactions with her. My
dog even had a couple of
puppies by her hound dog, in
addition to three other
neighborhood dogs. Great
memories of a great lady.

AUSTIN — The chairman of
the Texas Legislature’s Women’s
Health Caucus urged the state
auditor’s office to investigate the
awarding of a $1.6 million state
grant to an anti-abortion group
Monday.
State Rep. Jessica Farrar, D-
Houston, said the Health and
Human Services Commission’s
decision last week to award the
Healthy Texas Women pro-
gram’s grant to the Round Rock-
based Heidi Group funnels tax
dollars to an unlicensed medical
provider with an anti-abortion
agenda.
‘We cannot have a biased
ideology driving the health care
of women in this state,” said Far-
rar. “This type of ideology based
on this type of granting of an
award is detrimental to the
health care of women in this
state.”
founded and led by Carol Ever-
ett, a vocal opponent of abor-
tion.
The state contends the orga-
nization’s grant application was
one of the most “robust” applica-
tions to the commission.
The award makes the Heidi
Group the recipient of the sec-
ond-largest grant under the
Healthy Texas Women program,
second only to the Harris Coun-
ty public health department at
$1.7 million.
Everett said her group aims
to “help women with the situa-
tions of life,” particularly in rural
Texas.

“I’m the known pro-lifer and
it’s just been horrible that pro-
lifers can’t get this money,” said
Everett, countering claims the

ganization. “But I will tell you,
it’s been good PR.”
