Be Home, Too, Is 3-D; Check Your
Walls to Find Storage Possibilities
The solution to most storage
problems, according to an article
in the current edition of Home
Modernizing magazine, lies in re-
membering that a home, like the
newest movies, is 3-D. Generous
storage facilities can be added to
any home without sacrificing vital
square footage of floor space by
looking up—up along lazy walls.
No home uses all its wall area.
All have many blank wall spaces
i.hat will accommodate built-ins
and shelves—perhaps even gen-
erous closets. And the homeown-
er will find that by using built-ins
to replace present storage furni-
ture, such as chests, wardrobes
and desks, he will actually save
floor space.
The magazine lists these’ stand-
ards for determining the ade-
quacy of storage space: Size-
storage units should be big
enough to take care of all pres-
ent and forseeable needs; acces-
sibility-proper design eliminates
the frustrations of groping into
blind corners or having to reach
over a large object to find a small
one; efficiency — storage units
should be planned to accommo-
date the objects that will be
stored there with a minimum of
waste space; flexibility—as years
pass, habits of a- family change,
its possessions change and in-
crease; storage facilities should
be planned to allow adjustment
for these changes.
A blank wall in this living room (above) can be made to provide
generous storage facilities in the manner shown in the drawing below.
The same solution can be applied to any room in any home.
Geologist Discusses
Good Christian
At Club Meeting
Ed Martin, chief geologist for the
Pauley Oil Company with head-
quarters in Reynosa, took “It
takes guts to be a Christian” as his
topic when speaking before the
joint Christmas meeting of the
Mercedes Rotary, Kiwanis and
Lions Clubs, Tuesday.
Mr. Martin pointed out the
things done by Jesus that show-
ed him to be a man of much forti-
tude, and not just a gentle soul
teaching and preaching.
The Rotary Club was host to
the other civic clubs at this meet-
ing, with vice-president Meeler
Markham serving as chairman in
Phone 295
the absence of President Henry
Isbell.
President Gene Bowden presided
for the Kiwanis Club and presi-
dent S. F. Cernosek for the Lions.
The Lions club collected a ‘kitty’
for a needy family and the sum
raised was in excess of fifteen dol-
lars.
