Miss Maedgen
Honored With
Kitchen Shower
Miss' Maedene Maedgen, bride
elect of Bill Armer, was compli-
mented with a kitchen shower
on November 29, at the home
of Mrs. G. O. Mengers. Hostess-
es with Mrs. Mengers were Mrs.
Bill Holmes, Mrs. A. D. Canna-
more and Mrs. Paul Chambers.
A yellow linen cloth was used
on the serving table. The cen-
terpiece was an arrangement, of
bronze bougainvillea and cop-
per plant foliage. Miniature
kitchen aids of mops, buckets,
brushes, etc., were hung in the
arrangement.
The honoree’s corsage was of
chrysanthemums decorated with
miniature kitchen gadgets and
centered with a tiny bible.
The gifts were presented on
a tea cart decorated with an
imitation wedding cake topped
with a tiny bride.
Refreshments of finger sand-
wiches, a variety of sweet rolls
and coffee were served to ,20
guests.

Honored With Shower
A tea and miscellaneous show-
er honoring Miss Barbara Huff-
stutler, bride-elect of Donald
Halbgewachs, was held last Sat-
urday afternoon at the J. M.
Edmondson home.
Hostesses with Mrs. Edmond-
son, were Mrs. Milton Boat-
wright, Mrs. Walton Knolle,
Mrs. Paul Mahoney, Mrs. Geo.
Henderson, Mrs. Hugo Win-
sauer, Mrs. J. J. Baker, Mrs.
J. W. Crouch, Mrs. Clarence
Maedgen, Jr. and Mrs. Bill
Watson.
Receiving the guests were
Mrs. Edmondson, the honoree,
her mother, Mrs. Tracy Huff-
stutler and Miss Halbgewachs,
sister of the groom-elect.
The table was laid with a bouf-
fant pink net cloth over taffeta.
The net was gathered and
caught with clusters of roses.
An arrangement of pink car-
nations in a silver epergne was
the centerpiece.
Members of the house party
were Carol Ann Edmondson,
Lynn and Ann Boatwright,
Kathy Knolle, Patsy and Gail

Mahoney, Mary Maedgen, Bev-
erly Henderson, Mrs. Edward
Kronke and Dee Watson.
Eaph Westhersby home. He is
an army buddy of Eaph Weath-
ersby, Jr.
Mrs. Richard DeVilbiss, Jo
Ann ahd Lem of Carrizo Springs
spent from Friday until Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Hart
and Mr. and Mrs. Erich Bauch.
Lt. Robert Ramsower and a
roommate spent the holidays
with Mr. and Mrs. I. B. Ram-
sower. They are stationed in
San Antonio with the U.S. Air
Force.
Mrs. A. B. Cobb spent the
Thanksgiving holidays in Lub-
bock with her son, Mr. and Mrs.
Gene Cobb and family.
Attendants for the wedding of
Miss Barbara Wallace and El-
wood Stridde have been an-
nounced by the couple. The
wedding will take place Friday
evening at Peace United Church
of Christ in Tynan.
Miss Patsy Stridde, sister of
the prospective groom, will be
maid of honor and bridesmaid
will be Mrs. Jerry Edmondson
of Victoria.
Marvin Felux of Kerrville will
be best man and groomsman
will be Jerry Edmondson of
Victoria. Ushers will be Jerry
Patten of San Marcos and Car
roll Rouse of Alice. Michael
Stridde, brother of the prospec-
tive groom, will be the candle-
lighter.
Miss Huffstutler
Is Honored
At A Shower
Miss Barbara Huffstutler was
complimented with a personal
shower Friday evening at the
home of Mrs. Glenn Dorris.
Miss Huffstutler is the bride-
elect of Donald Halbgewachs.
Greeting the guests were host-
esses Miss Karen Sue Dorris,
Mrs. Paul Stone, Jr., Mrs. Glenn
Dorris, Mrs. Arthur Knolle and
the honoree.
Refreshments of pink frosted
cake squares topped with roses,
hot punch and nuts were served
from a table laid in pale pink
taffeta under pink tulle which
was enhanced with bands of
pink ribbon and sprigs of flow-
ers. The centerpiece of pink
peonies, frosted pastel grapes,
bleeding harts and ivy was ar-
ranged in tiers in an antique
gold and crystal epergne. Pink
candles in crystal candelabra
complted the appointments.
About 25 guests were prsent
fop an evening of games and
conversation.
Miss Maedene Maedgen and
her fiancee, Bill Armer, were
honored with a dinner party last
Saturday night at the Rec| Barn.
Hosts were Mr. and Mrs. M.
R. Sanguinet and Mr. and Mrs.
William Hinnant.
The U shaped table was laid
with a white cloth and matched
cherubs holding arrangements
of tangerine chrysanthemums
centered the top of the U. Gold
candelabra with dark green can-
dles and ivy were spaced down
each side of the U.
Those attending, in addition to
the honorees and the hosts, were

Sr., Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Maed-

LOCALS
Thomas Edinburgh returned
to Sam Houston College at
Huntsville after spending the
holidays with Mrs. Dorothy
Lotspeich, Dorothy Layne and
Mrs. Henry Maikotter.
Mrs. Frank Sharpe and Ron-
nie spent Thanksgiving with rel-
atives in Dallas.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Haley
of Taft spent Thanksgiving Day
here with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. E. J. Crenshaw.
Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Porter
visited with Col. and Mrs. Don-
zil Baker of College Station and
attended the A&M -Texas foot-
ball game.
Mrs. C. A. Maedgen, Sr. fell
at her home on Wednesday,
Nov. 27, and broke her left hip
and wrist. She underwent surg-
ery Friday at Thomas Spann
Hospital in Corpus Christi and
is reported to be doing fine.
She hopes to be home in about
ten days.
Mr. and Mrs. Jose C. Garza
of Mathis announce the engage-
ment of their daughter, Angel-
mira, to Tim Rodriquez. He is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernesto
Rodriquez of Corpus Christi.
The wedding will be Dec. 29
at the Sacred Heart Catholic
Church in Mathis.
Both are graduates of Mathis
High School. Miss Garza attend-
ed Del Mar College and South
Texas Commercial College. Her
fiancee graduated from Del Mar
College and is now attending
the University of Texas.
Charlie Gunn spent several
days of last' week hunting in
West Texas.
Holiday visitors in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Deh-
nisch were Mr. and Mrs. Gar-
land Watson of Houston.
