Local Red Cross
Installs Officers
The annual meeting of the Edwards
County Red Cross, was held at the
court house Tuesday afternoon. The
meeting was called to order by Mrs.
Jack Brown, county chairman. Minu-j
tes of the secretary, Mrs. Rose Guth-
rie, were read and approved. Mrs.
Evelyn M inter, treasurer, gave her
report, which shows a balance in the
bank of SI 508.16 in the Red Cross
fund and S102.87 in the Junior Red
Cross fund.
It was voted upon by members pre-
sent to send twenty-five dollars to
each of the four towns, Glazier, White
Deer and Higgins, Texas and Wood-
ward, Oklahoma, who were stricken
last week by tornadoes. It was also
voted to continue the fund to Jean
Draper to finish her army nursing
course at the Santa Rosa Hospital,
San Antonio.
The following officers were install-
ed for the ensuing year: County Chair-
man, Mrs. Asa Tomlinson; Vice
Chairman, Mrs. Everett Epperson;
Secretary, Miss Lena Strackbein;
Treasurer, Mrs. Evelyn Mintcr.
Mrs. Tomlinson selected as chair-
man of the various committees to car-
ry on the work as follows: Pro-
ductions, Mrs. Wheat Bradford; Home
Service, Sam Hough; Home Nursing,
Mrs. Terry Cowsert; Nutrition, Mrs.
Eugene Mayes; Disaster, R. R. Cor-
der; First Aid, IJayles Roc; Publici-
ty, Mrs. Warren Hutt; Fund Cam-
paign, Mrs. Rose Guthrie; Junior
Red Cross, Mrs. Jean Weatherford.
District chairmen are: Barksdale, Mrs.
E. M. Powers; Carta Valley, Mrs.
John Nation; Kickapoo, Mrs. Lindon
Thurman; Llano, Mrs. Walker Ep-
person.
H. E. CLASS HONORS MOTHERS
The first year home economics class
of Rocksprings High School enter-
tained at a tea on Tuesday afternoon
in honor of their mothers. They have
recently completed units on clothing
construction and entertaining. Dresses
made during the clothing unit were
modeled.
Members of the class giving the tea
included Charlene Ross, Nancy Jean
Ross, Bobbie Lou Spears, Bobbie
Jean Roach, Mary Louise Lennon,
Helen Pope ami Dorothy Jean Lo-
max. Mothers attending were: Mrs.
J. C. Spears, Mrs. C. W. Ross, Mrs.
Eric Lomax, Mrs. Dan Ross, Mrs. Al-
exander and Mrs. Roy Pope.
JONES—WILSON
Miss Nellie Mae Jones, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Jones of Rock-
springs and Douglas Duane Wilson,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Holly Wilson of
Del Rio, were united in marriage Sat-
urday April 12 at 4 p. m. at the Church
of Christ in Del Rio. Brother Parrish,
minister of the church officiated at the
single ring ceremony.
The bride wore a soft blue crepe
dress trimmed with gold brilliants
with white accessories. Her corsage
was pink carnations. The bride’s only
attendant was Mrs. Robert Taylor, a
close friend. Mrs. Taylor wore a blue
dress with white accessories and her

son’s attendant was Robert Taylor.
Mrs. Wilson is a graduate of Rock-
springs High School and attended
Draughon’s Business College in San
Antonio the past winter. Mr. Wilson
served in the United States Navy for
three and a half years, and during that
time he saw action in the Pacific and
Atlantic theatres of operations. He re-
ceived a number of decorations for
his service during the war. Mr. Wil-
son is now connected with the State
Highway Department.
The bridal couple are making their
home in Rocksprings at the Barnes
apartment in the northern part of the
city.

Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Mitchell, Sr.,
were hosts to about fifty guests, Sun-
day afternoon at a typical ranch rop-
ing contest. Delicious barbecue and
the fixins’ were served in the even-
ing.
