DETROIT, Mich.—With the assem-
bly of its 1,000,000th postwar vehicle
last week, Chevrolet Motor Division
became the first single producer in
the auto industry to build a million
vehicles since the war, it was an-
nounced by Nicholas Drevstadt^ gen-
eral manager of this largest General
Motors division.
The unit, a 1947 model sedan was
produced in the Janesville (Wis.) as-
sembly plant, one of nine across the
country whose combined output has
established numerous postwar produc-
tion records for Chevrolet, including
first-quarter output of more than
250,000 vehicles and a March total of
101,107 units, making Chevrolet the
first producer to build more than 100,-
000 cars and trucks in a single post-
war month.
Completion of a new assembly plant
in Flint, Mich., in the near future and
of a similar plant in Van Nuys, Calif.,
next fall, will further augment the
Chevrolet production potential, Mr.
Drevstadt pointed out.
With approximately 8,000,000 Chev-
rolet's on the road today, Mr. Dreyst-
adt added, Chevrolet represents ap-
proximately one-fourth of all motor
vehicles in the service of the Am-
erican motoring ptiblic.

ANYWIIERE-
Willie Wells and a btmch of the
boys from our town went to Pound
Ridge Saturday to a reunion of
their old regiment.
There were about two hundred
and fifty boys who came from
miles around to a good old feast
in Farmer Collins’ barn. I expect
they seemed a lot different to each
other out of uniform. But they
had a great time, spinning yarns,
drinking beer, and talking over €ho
old times in South Africa and Italy
and the Aleutians.
I went over to cover the meeting

A Great Bunch
-Those Ex-G.I/s
for the Clarion, and one thing that
sure impressed me was the good
behavior of those boys—their pref-
erence for a moderate beverage
like beer—their friendly spirit.
From where 1 sit, our ex-G.I.’s
are making as good a showing in
peacetime as they made during
the war. And they're setting a
mighty good example to the rest
of us—in tolerance, and modera-
tion, and good fellowship.
