Twenty washers are available
at the Bendix Automatic Laundry
on West Houston street, Kenneth
Watkins, owner, said that the
washers if kept busy could turn
out over 3000 pounds of wash in
a ten hour day.
A soft water service insures
plenty of cleaning suds at the
Laundry where you can buy
enough detergent or soap for a
washing if you find you have left
yours at home.
Boiling water is supplied to the
machines by a huge boiler in the
back of the building which is con-
nected to eight water softeners.
The softeners are refilled on the
average of every two weeks Wat-
kins said.
The customer can wash her (or
his) own clothes, or they can leave
them for the management to care
for. Each machine will handle
nine pounds at a time, Watkins
said but added that as a rule,
there would be ample machines
available for the customers to
ice. He estimated the overage
eekly wash to be between 30
id 40 pounds.

Sea foods, omelettes, cold plates,
