Reps from 22 NFL
teams turn out for pro day
his past weekend was the biggest
for me in this journey I’m on to
earn a shot in the NFL when I
participated in Tulsa’s pro day on Friday
morning and showcased my abilities in
front of nearly two dozen NFL teams.
On Saturday I woke up around
10:30 a.m., which was later than I’ve
slept in a long, long time. When I tried
to roll out of bed, I instantly felt the
soreness in my hamstrings, back and
arm from pushing my body to the limit
on Friday.
As sore as I was, all I could do was
smile because I have made it this far in
training toward my dream. So far, I
have been “helping myself out,” accord-
ing to my agent Chris Cabott.
As I said in my last write-up, I knew
there would be at least 12 NFL teams
there to watch me run, jump and throw.
The turnout exceeded my expectations.
weight than normal.
The first official test started at 9:15 in
the weight room, where all the scouts
had their clipboards and pens ready to
analyze us. The first measurements
were height, weight, arm length, wing
span and hand measurements. All of
these tests can get a little nerve-racking
because it is insanely quiet while they
do the measurements, and then sud-
denly, one scout will belt out, “EVANS!
Hand, nine and three-quarters! Height,
6-oh-oh-2! Arm,” and so on.
Literally everyone in the building
can hear the measurements. So for me,
that got the nerves out of the way right
there because I didn’t have anything to
hide from any scouts, bystanders or
teammates. Everyone knew exactly
what I was working with.

COMMENTARY
We had 22 of the 32 NFL teams on
campus to watch my teammates and
me display our talents.
The day started for me at 7:45 a.m.
with a breakfast that wasn’t too heavy
on the stomach so I could run and
move all day and not be hungry but al-
so not too light where I would get hun-
gry and weigh in at a lighter body

Braswell
Roussos records hat trick
as Lady Broncos bounce
back from their first loss

In their final game before playoffs,
the Denton Lady Broncos were able to
shake off the sting of their first loss of
the season and close out their stellar
regular season on a high note.

Denton’s offense, which was led by
Margarita Roussos’ hat trick, was lim-
ited through much of the first half on
Monday, but two goals late before half-
time gave the Lady Broncos’ the spark
they needed to close out the game for a
5-0 win against Braswell.
“It should give them a good mental-
ity going into the playoff game,” Denton
coach Rocky Monk said. “A result like
that after a loss gives us some confi-
dence. [Roussos] got the opportunity
to play at center midfielder today. She’s
got a good shot on her. We talked about
in the second half with the wind at our
back to test the keeper. You could see in
the first half that she was already plug-
ging away.”
Denton’s bi-district matchup al-
ready is set with the Lady Broncos
drawing Saginaw Boswell on March 23
in Argyle.
The Lady Broncos, who finished the
regular season at 17-1-2 and 10-1-1 in
District 5-5A, were held scoreless
throughout much of the first half, de-
spite dominating possession and earn-
ing quality chance after quality chance.
Finally, Denton was able to finish.
Lily Mansour, after missing a golden
opportunity just minutes earlier, capi-
talized this time around.
Taking the through pass to the left of
the goal, Mansour battled through a de-
fender’s check and sent her shot across
the grain on the Braswell keeper and in-
side the right side of the goal for a 1-0
lead in the 39th minute.

Ryan had a chance to clinch a share
of the District 5-5A title with a win in
Monday’s regular-season finale against
Wichita Falls Rider. Instead, the Raid-
ers find themselves heading into the
playoffs as the district’s third seed.
Rider score twice in the final 21:48
while holding Ryan scoreless in the sec-
ond half for a 2-1 road win. Grayson El-
lett scored the eventual game winner
for Rider off an assist from Doug Wil-
son with 15:25 to play, giving Rider (10-
5-2, 9-3) the second seed behind top
seed Wichita Falls.

Ryan (8-6-5, 7-2-3 district), whose
only district losses were to Rider, is still
playoff bound and will face Saginaw
Boswell in the first round at a time and
place to be determined.
This is Ryan’s third straight playoff
appearance.
‘We were already in the playoffs and
we knew the situation,” Ryan coach
Ryan Trowbridge said of the chance to
win a share of the district crown. “Did
