So far our February has been free of freezing temperatures
at DFW airport. In fact, the last time there was an official
freeze was Jan. 8. The last time DFW had a February with-
out a freeze was in 1999. Since 1898 there have only been
four years that did not record a freeze in February: 1999,
1957,1931 and 1930. February has been one of the warmest
on record and that trend is likely to continue.

An indictment means a person has been formally ac-
cused of committing a serious crime.
In Denton County, a specially appointed panel of 12 peo-
ple, called a grand jury, meets once a week and hears evi-
dence in cases where a crime is suspected. (The grand jury
is selected from a random jury pool, just like a trial jury, but
they serve for a longer period of time.) If the grand jury
finds there is enough evidence to hold a person for trial of
that crime, then they vote for a “true bill” of indictment.
Indictments can follow a person’s arrest for that crime.
Indictments can also follow a criminal complaint, where an
investigation of that complaint leads to one or more in-
dictments.

Area residents who enjoyed a
sunny Saturday are in for a wet
end to the weekend.
At least an inch of rain is ex-
pected for Denton tonight. Daniel
Huckabee, a meteorologist with
the National Weather Service in
Fort Worth, said the rainfall can
be attributed to abnormally high
temperatures for February.
“The system as a whole is
moving more quickly than expec-
ted, which could reduce reduce
rain totals and might reduce
flooding. But Denton can expect
at least an inch,” Huckabee said.
The rainfall is expected to
wind down shortly after mid-
