Keri Ellen Glosson and James Egbert
Robinson, Jr., exchanged wedding
vows February 23, in the Abilene Chris-
tian University Chapel on the Hill in
Abilene. John Risse, minister at South-
ern Hills Church of Christ, officiated the
ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Walter and
Carolyn Glosson of Abilene and Mr.
and Mrs. James Robinson, Sr., of OIney.
Brass candelabras held white candles
and were decorated with English ivy and
magenta bows. Magenta bows marked
the pews.
Given in marriage by her father, the
bride wore a formal gown of white satin
that featured a Sabrina neckline, puffed
sleeves fitting at the elbow and ending at
the wrist with lace encrusted pearls and
iridescents. The fitted bodice had a drop
waist and her full skirt ended in a cathe-
dral train. Her veil was caught to a pearl

white and magenta silk flowers. Pearl
earrings completed her attire.
Leigh Ince of Abilene served her sis-
ter as matron of honor. Bridesmaids
were Tammy Deal of Abilene, Jennifer
Strasburg of Plano, Michelle Harvey of
Austin, cousin of the bride, Melodee
Rogers of Conroe and Colleen Shannon
of Lubbock. Their tea-length dresses
featured drop-waist bodices and long
sleeves of black velvet and magenta
skirts. They carried bouquets of silk
flowers in white, magenta, teal and deep
purple.
Kevin Robinson of Lubbock, brother
of the groom, served as best man.
Groomsmen included Darren Penn and
Chris Coke, both of Lubbock, Ray Ince
of Abilene, brother-in-law of the bride,
Glyn Elrod of Dallas and Mickey Ro-
gers of Conroe. Brothers of the bride,
Todd Roberts of San Angelo and Bobby
Glosson of Abilene, were ushers.
Vocal music was provided by
A’capella of Abilene Christian Univer-
sity.
The chapel reception area was site for
the reception hosted by the parents of the
bride following the ceremony. The
bride’s table featured a centerpiece on a
mirrored turntable and a four tiered cake
decorated with jewel-lone flowers in
magenta, teal, purple and white. The
groom’s table was decorated in a Texas
Tech motif and cake. Silver appoint-
ments were used.
Parents of the groom hosted a re-
hearsal dinner at Briarstone Manor in
Abilene.
The bride is a graduate of Cooper
High School in Abilene and has at-
tended Texas Tech University and
Abilene Christian Univrsity. She is a
student at the University of Colorado.
The groom graduated OIney High
School and received his Bachelor of
Business Administration at Texas Tech
University. He is a sales representative
with Lever Brothers in Colorado
Springs, Colo., where the couple lives
following a wedding cruise to the Baha-
mas.
In conjunction with Texas Cattle-
Women, School menues this week will
feature beef entrees each day focusing
on a different country for “Beef Around
the World” week.
Monday: Breakfast, peanut butter
toast, juice and milk; Lunch, England:
English hot roast beef sandwich,
whipped potatoes, beef gravy, buttered
peas and milk.
Tuesday: Breakfast, biscuits, sau-
sage, gravy, milk and juice; Lunch,
Mexico: Fiesta beef casserole, green
salad, combread, fruit and milk.
Wednesday: Breakfast, French toast,
syrup, juice and milk; Lunch, Japan:
Teriaki beef (rice), green beans, fruit
and milk.
Thursday: Breakfast, toast, egg, juice
and milk; Lunch, Italy: Italiano meat
and pasta, mixed vegetables, wheat
rolls, fruit and milk.
Friday: Breakfast, cinnamon toast,
cereal, juice and milk; Lunch, Ghana:
Beef on a bun (special sauce), French
fries, fruit, milk, and cherry cake.

Roy and Robbie Smith of Wichita
Falls are parents of a daughter, Saman-
tha Dee, bom February 1, in a Wichita
Falls hospital. She weighed eight
pounds and is 21 inches long. Grandpar-
ents are Mr. and Mrs. R.D. Hickam of
OIney and Mr. and Mrs. Dudley L.
Chapman of Ben Wheeler and Mr. and
Mrs. Roy E. Smith, Sr., of Lewisville.
Great grandparents are LaVerne
Goodman of Wichita Falls and Mr. and
Mrs. Raymond Cantrell of Elbert. Great,

Amity Club Entertains
With Seven Oaks Tea
All Amity Club members were host-
esses for a St. Patrick’s Day tea Thurs-
day, Mar. 7, at Seven Oaks Nursing
Home. Mrs. R.E. Lovett, Mrs. Hayden
Farmer and Mrs. Charles McNutt were
program leaders with “The Way We
Reach Out” theme for the day.
The tea table was covered with a white
lace cloth and held an arrangement of
yellow jonquils and green shamrocks.
Green napkins and plates with a St.
Patrick’ motif were used in serving.
Engagement
Announced
Ron and Brenda Beyer of OIney an-
nounce the engagement and approach-
ing marriage of their daughter, Ronda,
to Staff Sgt. Kenneth L. Finchum, Jr., of
Fort Sill, Okla., son of Kenneth L.
Finchum, Sr., of Martinsville, Ind.
The bride-elect is a graduate of OIney
High School and the International Avia-
tion and Travel Academy in Arlington.
Her fiance is an instructor at Fort Sill,
Lawton, Okla.
The couple plans a June wedding.
OIney Pledges
To Rehab Center
Over $115,714.00 was pledged dur-
ing the annual Easter Seal Telethon held
March 2 and 3
North Texas Rehab Center provides
services to clients in over 15 counties.
Satellite pledge centers were operated in
eleven surrounding communities. Over
1220 persons were served by the Rehab
Center last year and $431,000 in chari-
table services were provided.
Many of the North Texas Rehab
Center patients and their families told
their personal stories of overcoming
disabilities through therapy at the Rehab
Center. Vance Booher the Child Repre-
sentative and Gerald Hohfield the Adult
Representative were also featured
throughout the Telethon.
Alan Lewis of OIney charied the sat-
ellite center this year and over $3,810.00
in pledges were phoned in.
Punch, dlbkies and angel food cake
were served to approximately forty resi-
dents in the dining room and thirty in
their rooms. Each resident received a
gift from the club and a shamrock pin.
A quintet composed of Mrs. Edwin
Key, Mrs. Fischer Palmer, Mrs. Herb
Pettie, Mrs. Russell Altmiller and Mrs.
Randy Jordan sang a medly of Irish
songs including “My Wild Irish Rose”,
“I’ll Take You Home Again Kathleen”,
and “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling”.
They were accompanied by Mrs.
Dwight Hamilton.
Four small grandchildren of club
members delighted residents when they
sang, “Jesus Loves Me”, “He Has the
Whole World in His Hands”, and ‘The
Alphabet”. They were Steven Cox,
Rachel Altmiller, Paige Hamilton and
Kate Glover.
Other club members present were
Mrs. Van Ivy, Mrs. John Myers, Mrs.
Harold Myers, Mrs. David Penn, Eliza-
beth Thornton and Mrs. Don
Wain wright.

Group Hostess
Bernice Stevens was hostess for
Baptist Women’s Night Study Group of
First Baptist Church when they met
March 5, in her home for mission study
and salad supper.
“It’s All In The Word”, was the skit
presented with Elwanda Gaw as inter-
viewer for missionaries Lindsay Cobb,
portrayed by Pat Forbus, and Jeane Elli-
ott, played by Marion Bullock. Cobb
told of his work as a catalytic missionary
in Chicago’s inner city. Elliott ex-
plained that her job as a home evangelist
in Tegucigalpa, Honduras involved
teaching English, organizing schedules
for volunteers for the United States,
leading workshops in cooking, cake
decorating and crafts and many other
things.
After the skit the group agreed that
both missionaries work through the
common language of love.
Others present included a guest,
Marcia Hall, and Doris Perry, Catherine
Thomas, Justine Watson and Bernice
Avara.
