Quota Not Raised
In Americanism
Fund Drive Here
County Chairman W. J. Oxford
Of tha National Americanism
Foundation Fund drive for Erath
county said early this week that
the quota of 9789 has not
been raised during the drive for
funds so far and that the drive will
continue until Saturday, June 15.
“We realise that many people
have been called upon many times
within the past few weeks for
contributions for many different
causes, but we feel that in this
case the money given by the indi-
viduals is not an outright contri-
bution but one of the best invest-
ments that can be made at this
time”, Oxford said Thursday.
He pointed out further that the
American Legion, in conducting
such a drive, has in mind the
spreading of ideals of Americanism
in many ways and that the pro-
ceeds of the drive will be used
for that purpose.
“There are very likely many
people in Stephenville and Erath
County who are planning to give
something to this worthy cause
who have not been called upon by
members of the committee to raise
the funds here,” Oxford said. “We
will appreciate it very much if
these people will mail their checks
to R. N. Pittman at the Stephen-
ville State Bank, or to Fred Mc-
Cleskey, at the Farmers-First Na-
tional Bank. We are hoping to
close out the drive Saturday night,
and would like to get all of the
money in by that time,’" Oxford
said.
Money may also be left' at the
Majestic theater with Jake Hed-
rick, who is chairman of the local
committee to raise the funds for
the drive.
