MONEY IN THE BANK
PAGE THREE
Depositors Get
Over $100,000
Savings accounts depositors
in two Stephenville banks and
the Stephenville Savings A Loan
’ Association received dividends
' checks well above 6100,000 the
past week; The money is for in-
terest on savings accounts in
the three institutions for the
past six month.
' Most of the savings account
patrons live in the Stephenville
region although it was revealed
Wednesday that several sizeable
depositors lived in scattered sec-
tions of Texas. /
The new money which was
placed in the mails on the first
of July is believed to have had
a healthy effect on increased
sales in local stores the past
several days. Wednesday was
one of the busiest days of the
year in Stephenville.
Savings account depositors
will receive another payment on
interest at the first of the com-
ing year. The total amount in-
volved will be well above $2Qj),-
000—and could be as high as
$250,000.

Scholarship—
(Continued from Page One)
be one of the most vital contribu-
tions the people of the city and
surrounding territory could make
to the success ci the atletic pro-
gram in its first year as a senior
college. V
“We are in the big time now, so
to speak, said another member of
the committee and “we must make
certain that all the games are
well attended."
Three Main Points
In the two-hour discussion of
the scholarship and athletic pro-
gram almost every phase of col-
lege activities was brought out.
However, the two main items be-
fore the committee were the best
plans of raising a sum of at least
$10,000 for scholarships to worthy
students snd full support of the
athletic program.
Chairman Maguire brought out
three main points that he em-
phasised. They are:
Scholarships.
Sale of football season tickets.
Arouse ipterest of local people
to continue college work in order
tp.*et degrees.
The committee was advised that
there are Tarleton graduates in
all parts of the Stephenville reg-
ion and that it was hoped that
many of them would be coming
back for special courses in night
classes so that they could build
up sufficient credits to gain de-
grees. I is believed that s few of
these have sufficient work com-
pleted that it will be possible for
them to be members of the first
graduating class in Tarleton sen-
ior college ranks.
College officials are expressing
a hope that farmers, ranchmen,
dairymen, poultrymen and live-
stock men will be calling at the
college during the summer months
so that a course of atudy can be
worked out that Witt be desirable
and satisfactory. Dean Paul
Cunyus plans to spend much of
liis time in his office during the
next months so that those who
seek information of this kind can
get it.
Rx-StsdeaU Interested
Reports huve been received
from several parts of the south-
west which indicate that many
of the ex-students arc deeply con-
cerned about what they can do to
assist their almamater.
Local froces hope to arouse the
assistance of the Ex-Students As-
sociation to the extent that they
can assist with many of the fin-
ancial problems and other needs
of Tarleton.
Chairman Maguire is making a
close study of the time when the
two drives will be inaugurated. Hi
•specially said that the idea wuf|
one that needed close and detailed
planning. It may not start until
August. Dates and plans as well
as all committee heads and com-
mittee members will be announc-
ed soon.
